bullet  Research Notes:

1. Summary [see chart, saved under z-folder, Erik Ersson, 1786 - families

Jon Ersson b 1793 and Gertrud Andersdotter (b 1804), married 26 Nov 1819; both from Fäbabacken. Since Jon's father and Gertrud's father were brothers, and then Jon Ersson and Gertrud Andersdotter were 1st cousins.

Gertrud would have been about age 15 or 16 when married and at that time frame this age at marriage was likely unusual. This lead me to think that they may have had a child around this time. But I reviewed on 5 Oct 2020, Östmark births/baptisms from 1819 to 1824 and there is no record of a birth. Their first child was born on 17 Dec 1824, 4 years after they were married. But of course it is possible that a child was born and died and was not recorded in the parish records, but this also would have been a bit unusual.

Gertrud married Jons Ersson (1793-1839) who also descends from the Finnish Family Name, Porkka, at Fäbacken. Gertrud and Jons had 6 children. Three of the children emigrated to the US, Jon (1835- after 1911) and Maria (1839-1924). Maria was married to Nils Nilson (1841). Both Maria Jonsdotter (1839-1924) and Nils Nilsson (1841-1919) emigrated to MN in 1867, and both died at Stockholm Twp, Wright Co.

Another daugther of Gertrud Andersdotter (b 1804) and Jons Ersson (b 1793) was Marit Jonsdotter (1830-1872). Marit had a son born outside of marriage, Jon Persson (b 1851). Jon Persson also had emigrated in 1868 and in the US he was known as John Peterson Hedman. John (b 1851) first lived MN and then moved to North Dakato. By 1906 he had moved to south east Saskatchewan and by 1911 he had moved to the interior of BC, to an area just west of Enderby (John's uncle, from Jon Jonson b 1835 was living with him in 1911 and at that time he would have been about age 75). John Peterson Hedman was married Stina Persdotter 1855-1931. She was the daughter of Per Halstensson (1823-1888/1905), and Per was the son of Halsten Persson (1804-1855). His ancestors eventually lead to Ivar Nilsson (1713-1783), my 7th great grandfather.

One other daughter of Gertrud Andersdotter and Jons Ersson was Britta Jonsdotter. She was born in 1832 and in 1868 she also emigrated to the US. In the 1870 US Census she was living/working with a cousin and his family (John Ericksson) at Stockholm Twp in Wright Co, MN. Of course, her sister Marit was living close by. In 1874, Britta died due to a lung infection and is buried at the Stockholm Lutheran Cemetery.
