Anders Jonsson

Summary:

Anders Jonson b 1827 grew up in his parents home at Fäbacken in Östmark parish in Värmland. He continued to work at home and evenually became the 'head' of the home farm at Fäbacken. By 1858 he married Karin Olofsdotter (b 1883) born close to Fäbacken at North Lekvattnet. Anders and Karin had 2 boys. Sometime around 1865 the homeplace started to be called Ulfsjön, with a variant spelling of Ulvsjön - likely the home farm was some distance from the original location of Fäbacken (more research would be needed). On 15 Dec 1875 Anders Jonsson died at Ulfsjön, but I'm not sure of the cause of death.

On 14 Jul 1878, Karin Olofsdotter b 1833 remarried to Halsten Hallstenson (b 1843), and he then became the stepfather of Anders Jonsson's 2 boys, Jon Mons (b 1865) and Johan Aron (b 1872). The 2 boys (and mother and step-father) left Östmark parish for North America around 1892 and both homesteaded in Sheyenne Twp in Eddy County, North Dakota. Jon Mons had not married. Johan Aron married Emelia Eriksson in 1900 and they had 3 children.

The 1900 US Federal Census, Eddy Twp, North Dakota notes that Karin Olofsdotter was the mother of 3 children with 2 living. This implies that Karin had a child that had died - but there is no record of another child in the Östmark household records.

- notes that the 2 brothers, Jon M and Johan Andersson came to the Sheyenne area around 1893 (notes that they left Östmark in 1893, but that isn't correct) and that they had relatives who had settled here - Hallstein (likely refering to Olof Halstensson, b 1838) and John Hedman (b 1851).
- both had homesteaded east of town of Sheyenne. Jon M later bought the "tree claim" of John Hedman. [Jon M did not marry and he died at his home in 1950.
- Johan A received homestead patent in 1895.
- Johan A Anderson was married to Emelia Erickson in 1900. They had 3 children, Ernest G, Jennie E. and J. Mauritz.
