1. Findagrave id 256309491 .... posts a copy of death certificate, posted by Debbie Dahl Swanson
.. BUT the entry records his death as 10 May 1912 (aged 41), Chouteau County, MT ... and has the following coments:
Richard Anderson Rusten was born in Norway on February 15, 1871. Richard came to Minnesota and in 1898. ???
Richard died of consumption on April 24, 1912 in Chouteau, Montana.
.. HOWEVER .... by reviewing the Death Certificate, it is clear that he died on 6 Jun 1912 at 9 PM at Sweet Grass, Teton Co, MT

2. Land .... it appears that Richard took over his father's homestead, since he is listed as the owner of NE of Sec 7

1902 Platt, Badger Twp, Polk Co, MN .... image 30 [by 1915 Platt, NE Sec 7 owned by Charles S Mayer]
***
NE¼, Sec 7, Twp 149N, Range 42W of the 5th ... 160 acres, with the house etc on the southern part of the NE part of the NE¼
https://www.ancestry.com/imageviewer/collections/1127/images/31617_072137-00296?usePUB=true&_phsrc=Nde118
- this is likely the quarter that Anders R Rusten and Marit first had
AND on the NE¼ of Sec 6, 159.45 acres is owned by the "Rusten Bros." - likely Richard and Nils .. note buildings on the east side of the NE part of the quarter on the NW¼ of Sec 14

.. note ... this is about 30+kms in a westerly and north direction from Fosston, MN
.. about 10 north west from Erskine or about the same from Mentor
.. a school is noted on the east boundary of the NE¼ on Sec 8
.. Saron Lutheran Church and cemetery is noted on NE of sec 14

...... Sorum Church closed on January 3, 1912

- this cemetery is sometimes referred to as the Wold Cemetery in old obituaries. Sorum Synod Congregation was organized in 1885 by O.T. Wold, Ole Dovery, P.N. Sevelrud and Hans O. Lee who served as trustees. This congregation held their meetings in the schoolhouse in Sec. 8. In 1909 most of the families moved to Canada and the congregation was left with only four families. These four were Henry Anderson, Ole Dovery, O.T. Wold and Hans O. Lee. The church closed in January of 1912.
- 1902 Platt shows the Cemetery on the far NE corner of the NE¼ of Sec 17 ... cemetery is note, but not the church .. possibly a church was not build

... 1910 US Census, Woodlands Twp, Polk Co, MN; ED 0225; sheets 2B, line 54 [dw/fam from sheet 2A - 32/32]
Nettie Rusten, age 22 b in IA; married 1 yr; mother of 1 child, living
her son Norman, age 2 months, b in MN
.. Nettie and Norman were living with her father John Wilson, b abt 1838 in Nor who em 1870 and her mother age 49 b in Nor, em 1865
[note: Nettie's parents lived in Worth Co, IA in the 1920 US Census ... likely they moved back to IA bet 1910-and 1912 and that is why Nettie and Richard Rusten's daughter was born in Dec 1911 and bap Jan 1912 at Joice, IA ...

A. where was his farm/ranch ???

.. very difficult to find the boundary for Beatrice School District #40 in Chouteau Co MT, and thus the Breatrice School district Precint in the census record

see this: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3QS7-L978-1S5D?wc=93XM-MJ9%3A344264501%2C344344901%26cc%3D2028318&cc=2028318&lang=en&i=491
image 492 of 518 .... a list of students in Beatrice School ... lists Post Office address of parents

see, https://www.reddit.com/r/Montana/comments/10i5ted/montana_schoolroom_map_dated_1917/#lightbox
.. this is a Map of School Districts [ie, one room schools] .... includes Chocteau Co and shows Beatrice.
.. Beatrice is just south the of the Great Northern Railway, between Galata and Lothair .. currently this is along Hwy 2 in MT. Lothair is close to a 100 kms west of Harve. Goolge maps shows a photo a Galata, MT looking north to the Sweet Grass Hills - the Sweet Grass Hills can be seen to the east when you cross the Canada-US border at Coutts/Sweet Grass. Going north from Galata, it would be about 25 kms north to the hills.
It is not clear if Beatrice School district extended of the Railway or how far north
.. Harve was in Hill Co in 1910 with the northern edge at the Canadian border

Thus, It seems that the farm/ranch Richard had was east and maybe a bit south of Galata .. I'm not able to pinpoint this more
