1. 1865 Norway Census: Parish Støren with local parish as Horg - farm Bye

- Lists Peder Olsen, age 37 <1828> with home parish as Størens, with wife Megrethe Toresdtr, age 33 <1832> and son Ole Pedersen, age 9 <1856>; (NOTE: both Megrethe and Ole's home parish as Tolgens); and Gure Pedersdtr, his mother, age 68 <1797>, birth place as Størens Parish

Jon Ola Gjermundsen, Bygebok for Os: bygda folket, Vo1 1-3 [p 15 - my under PDF, Tore Jonsen Grue]

- Per Olssen By, born about 1828, came to the farm Andre På Berg (Os, Tolga, Hedmark) in 1852. In 1857 married Anne Margrete Toresdtr Grue, born 1832 on Verjåa. Both left in 1857 to Horig, tenant farmer at By on Horig. [husmannfolk - cotter who worked for the "gårdmann" in return for (small) pay and a house and generally a small piece of land for their own use]
- Per and Margrete later came back to Dalsbygda. Per By had gone to a clearing south of Trøan Berg and had build up a farm there. This was called/named locally as Bygjerdina.
- family left for America in 1870

- notes: Children - Ola [born 1858], Tore [born 1862; died 1864], Gjartrude [born 1869]

b. marriage - Norway parish records

- indicates that Anne Margrete was born on Verrgaæn on 14 July 1831 but birth records indicate
19 July 1831 (birth place not listed)
- residence at marriage was Berg


c. Klokkervang, page 18

- Anne Margarete married to Peder Olsen By, from Horg in Guldalen. Travelled to America in 1870. Several children

- listing for Peter Olson, age 52 (born abt 1828) with an occupation listed as a Rail Road Section Hand, and wife Annie, age 48 (born abt 1832) - children Ole age 22 (born abt 1858 in Nor) with an occupation listed as a Rail Road Section Hand, Jane age 11 (born abt 1869 in Nor) attending school (noted as a son), Inger (born abt 1873 in MN) attending school, Thomas age 3 (born abt. 1877 in MN), and Annie age 2 (born abt 1878 in MN)

- 1895 - Thor and Inger living at home (Anna is not listed with the family)


6. Source: 1910 & 1920 US Census for Petersen Village, Rushford Twp, Fillmore Co, MN the 1900 and 1910 US Census lists Peder Bye, born Mar 1828, married to Anne (M. Anne), born July 1832; they were married for 43 years in 1900, therefore, abt. 1857; emigrated in 1870; living in same household in 1900 (but not in 1910) is son Thor, born Sept 1876 and daughter Anna, born Sept 1878



7. Source: MN Death Certificate Index gives date for Peder (cert #004160), Anne Margrete (cert # 003824) (spelled as Annie Margurite), and Ole P Bye (cert # 004095) - county of death as Fillmore

- came to America in 1870, settling in Rushford and then coming to Peterson the next year

- came to America in 1870 with husband and 2 children & less than 2 years after arriving in US selected Peterson as permament residence
- first came to Peterson for a few weeks, then to Spring Grove (MN) for about 1 year, and back to Peterson
- old age, coupled with an accident [fractured thigh] 2 weeks prior
- funeral service at Peterson United Lutheran

8. See photo album for Claus J Grue - a photo is titled the "Bye folks" and it most likely Peder and Margrete and family, likely taken between 1905-1910; photo was taken at Grand Forks, ND; there is also a single photo of Ole Bye, taken about the same time

- this FT has many photos attached to it - the problem is that there are 1683 pages with each page having about 30 media files, thus over 54,000 media posts [it would be very time consuming to go through each page].
Looking at the pages for the "Bye family" there is only a couple of photos for "Palma Bye married to John W Vis"

great grandmother of Susan.
BUT this FT then has Ragnild Magnild Joensdatter Grue (1756-1832) married twice: first to Erik Olsen Berg [1751-1831],
BUT then a second marriage to Engbret Pålson Uletigsloken [1748-1829] and then futher descendants from him.

Thus, the 2 problems with this FT:
[1], the name of Ragnild Magnild Joensdatter Grue (1756-1832) is incorrect: the name should be
Magnild Jonsdatter Grue, the daughter of Jon Simensen Grue (1729-1807 = Jon was also known as Jon Simensen Hulbækdal with "Hulbækdal" being
the home farm of Jon Simensen's father, Simen Mortensen Hulbækdal, 1680-1752. Jon Simensen was likely the first to use the surname, "Grue"
[2]. Magnild Jonsdatter Grue, 1756-1832, WAS NOT married twice. She only married once to Erik Olsen Berg and lived all of her life at the Berg farm [also known as Bortistu-Berg]. This FT is very inaccurate
