bullet  Research Notes:

Summary: From the various Family Trees based on other family researchers (geni.com, Kenneth Bergman, FamilySearch, the article by Roland Kihlstadius (see below, point 4), and the information from Richard Broberg (point 6), Lars Klemetsson Porkka and Marit Matsdotter had 11 children, 7 males and 4 females. Combining information from the above sources, the following are the children (note that the birth dates are approximate), and likely all noted with the Finnish Family Name of "Porkka":

1 Klemet Larsson, b abt 1630 [son Johan Klemetsson and his son, Johan Johansson b 1707 married to Karin Andersdotter (Hotakka)]
2 Mats Larsson, b abt 1632 (aka, Mattes)
3 Lisbet Larsdotter, b abt 1634
4 Erik Larsson, b abt 1638 [ moved to Norway ]
5 Gertrud Larsdtr, b abt 1640 [ married to 'our' Anders Andersson Hotakka, 1638-1691; see detail on both research pages ]
6 Marit Larsdotter, b abt 1643
7 Lars Larsson, b abt 1645 [married to Elin Israelsdtr and a son, Johan (Jan) Larsson]
8 Hans Larsson, b abt 1647
9 Anna Larsdotter, b abt 1650 (?)
10 Olof Larsson, b abt 1650 [died 1711]
11 Örjan Larsson, b abt 1652 (aka, Göran) [married Britta Bertilsdotter from N Lekvattnet]

Note: I have not recorded any detail for the each of the children, with the exception of Klemet Larsson and Gertrud Larsdotter

Birth and Death [ 27 Feb 2020 ]

Lars Klemetsson Porkka's
birth and death is not certain nor is his birth location. I'm not sure if this can be proved, since there are no original records that I am aware of. However based on the above sources, most family researchers agree that he was born in Finland, most likely Siikajoki, Pohjanmaa lääni [Finnish]. Most of the other Family Researchers have recorded his birth as early 1600 and some in 1610. But there is one source that suggests he was born a bit earlier than 1600. Under the "taxation rules" set by the King Sweden, most "Finn" settlers were granted a 6-year free taxation grant. After 6 years they were required to pay taxes until age 63 (I'm not clear, but I think this means that the person still paid taxes for the year they turned 63 years old). After that the person no longer was required to pay taxes.

By reviewing the Fryksände Mantalslängder or taxations books, a researcher may get a hint of someone's birth. In the case of Lars Klemetsson, he paid taxes at Runnsjön (a more modern spelling is Runsjön) from 1653-1657. In 1658 his son, Klemet Larsson is the person taxed. Since Lars Klemetsson was likely alive in 1674 (see Roland Kihlstadius), it is likely that Lars Klemetsson turned 63 years old in 1657. However, there can be a number of reasons why a person was not taxed; using Lars' absence from the taxation record is not sufficient to base his birthon. Therefore it may be possible to conclude that Lars Klemetsson was born about 1595, but that is not certain. On my legacy database I have recorded his birth between 1595 and 1600.

Lars Klemetsson's date of death is not known. As I have said he was alive in 1674 and so he died after this date. In 1675 he would have been 80 years old, it is reasonable to conclude that he would have died between 1675 and 1695, likely closer 1675 since he would have been about 100 years old in 1695.

_______________________________________________________________________________

According to information, in 1652 it was decided that all adults between 16 and 63 years would pay mantal tax. But I now also find information on several genealogy pages where they say it is from 15 years old. [over 15 yrs old, thus they would be 16 yrs old
Facebook Släktforskning group: Stefan Irevång, on 29 May 2021

Some comments suggest that you can only use this as a guide - since there are a number of reasons that the birth of someone mis-represented - that is, the person didn't want to pay taxes, the person moved, the person died, or a boy/girl may have gone to another farm to work and didn't come to work at the home place, even at age 20 or so .....

Porkka

- Gottlund in 1821 wrote that Mats Porkka / Mats Klemetsson Porkka (b abt 1610) settled Fäbacken [ and, In Fäbacken there is a farm, which today is called Burken or Borken.] [14 Jul 2021 - when I had first entered this sentence, I thought it was referring to Mats Larsson Porkka. But given the time frame, it more likely refers to Mats Klemetsson. The above source only records the name Mats Porkka. ]
- Olof Jansson Porkka settled East Kalvhögden in 1781 and Göran [Örjan] Porkka settled Vestra Kalvhöjden - this is Gräsmark; I think vestra is Norwegian for west
- there is some other information - Erich Borch (Porrka) in in Brandval Finnskog
- In a [Mantalslängder ?] from 1658, in Runnsjön in Östmark Lasse Bork (Lars Klemetsson) and Matts Bork, the above mentioned Matts Porkka, who cultivated Fäbacken, is found. In Rattsjöberg in Vitsand, the same year there was Borka-Lasse, in 1664 Lasse Bork remained in Runnsjön, but a Matts Bork moved to Norra Lekvattnet (Liukola), furthermore there was Clemmet Burck. 1672 is in Runnsjön Olof Larsson Burk, apparently a son of Lasse Bork. In 1731 there was Olof Burk in Kalvhöjden (Vasikkamaäki). In 1668 there was a Burke-Hindrik in Mången in Vitsand.

". Värmland Anor * "Runnsjön as it was"- see my document [ as of 24 Feb 2020, in my z-folder]
Värmlands Anor, Jun 2011; pages 14, 15, 16,

- this references an extremely valuable source paper concerning Fryksdalen for personal research remained completely unknown for a long time ... Värmland historian Peter Olausson found in the early 2000s in the Uppsala country archives a piece of rare value. An "original document dated September 16, 1674". [ I can't make sense of the title of the document from the google translate; original Already its headline arouses excitement: "Forthechningh on alt Inhy ses people vhj Frykzdalen, both Baggar, Finnar and Swenske who hew from the other herded company are" [ ??? ] . The established, unique report [ length ] served as a way of registering mostly paperless [without identity] of younger people, their behavior as well as the notion that they usually lacked passports. The county authority in Örebro, where Värmland belonged, apparently wanted to know which border residents could be considered loyal and thus useful in "home defense", if and when the Denmark's control of Norway occurred. These poor people from other areas who arrived in Fryksdalen may not have been fully established on the land, and could thus be attracted to public overlap against compensation or promise of Norwegian protection against fire and robbery. The document from 1674 has been published extensively and commented completely by Gabriel Bladh and Peter Olausson (4).

5. Manuel Aguilar Henriksson Ahnentafel Report (received 31 Mar 2019), bottom of page 51-53, lists names of the [11] children of Lars Klemetsson Porkka
- page 61 and p 63 - Klemet Pedersson Porkka
- page 64 - father, Peter Pedersson Porkka

AND with a FamilySearch FT (L8MS-WBW) with information from Manuel (added 21 November 2019) and linked to daughter Gertrud Larsdotter Porkka b 1640 who was married to 'our' Anders Andersson Hotakka, b 1638

- also the above FamilySearch FT records: Klemet Pedersson Porkka died in 1623 with the death date added on 16 Oct 2018 by "angel38"
- Manuel Aguilar Henriksson (21 Nov 2019), added a "Life Sketch": Born about 1575 in Finland. Klemet came from Stöde in Medelpad 1605. He settled down in Ulvsjön. In 1621 he had 2 mares, 5 cows, 3 heifers, 1 bull, 13 sheeps, 1 goat, 4 porkers and 1 barrel of seed on field. In addition to that he had no less than 4 barrels of rye. The two people from Finland that lived in Ulvsjön often had to pay fine for harbouring Finnish men in vagrancy [those without identity papers, usually young people] . (Source of information: Magne Ivar Mellem and Niklas Persson [but no date is noted for their information])
NOTE: from the "life sketch" it seems that Klemet Pedersson Porkka likely emigrated before 1600 to Torp parish in Västernorrland and then by 1605 he and his family had moved to Ulvsjön in Fryksände parish. By 1621 he had 2 mares .... at Ulvsjön.

Runnsjön. It is not clear from Manuel's note that Lars Klemetsson Porkka lived at Runnsjön, but according to both Richard Broberg and Roland Kihlstadius (see, "Runnsjön - as it was"), Lars Klemetsson had built up the farm at Runnsjön

6. Richard Broberg, "Svenska Landsmål ....." - see his father's reseach notes, point 3
- it appears that Runnsjön was fully established abt 1642 and was built by Lars Klemetsson Porkka. This implies that he likely came to the area earlier, likely around 1635 (because of the the 6 year tax exception). It is possible that Lars Klemetsson's father, Klemet may have come to Ulvsjön as early as 1620

**** Nothing is really clear.

7. Bo Brunzell data ???? - this doesn't agree with other information, as above
http://www.brunzell.org/Bosses/000/002/261.htm

- has the comment, "The father of these three well-known brothers Lars 1610 ca, Mattes 1615 ca and Erik Klemetsson Porkka 1620 ca is probably a man named Klemet Henriksson who can be found in Graninge. Source: Niclas Persson". Note: see my document, "Niclas Persson Anbytarforum posts 2001" where he makes the same statement; however, these posts are almost 20 years old and so, I don't agree with this conclusion, based on newer information

- Bo has more information on Mattes Klemetsson and uses the Finnish Family Name of "Porkka", BUT does not have any information on Lars Klemetsson or Erik 8559,8560,8562,8706,8707,8781,8782

bullet  Noted events in his life were:

1. Residence, 1642, Abt 1642, Runsjön, Fryksände, Värmland län, Sweden. Lived at Runsjön by 1642. However, it is not clear when Lars Klemetsson arrrived in the area. See my research notes, points 5 and 6.

2. Death - after 1674, Between 1675 and 1695, Fryksände, Värmland län, Sweden. 8706 Location: Runsjön. According to the article, "Runsjön - as it was" by Roland Kihlstadius, Lars Klemetsson Porkka must have still been alive in 1674, since it is mentioned that his son, Klemet was living him on the original farm stead.
