bullet  Research Notes:

NOTE: using the geni.com FT at times is very confusing and at times it is hard to determine who is the "owner" or responsible for the content, since the FT is collaborative in nature (the same can be said for FT on FamilySearch) and source information/detail is lacking.

NOTE: to use the links with the names of the "manager", login to geni.com rather than clicking on just the 'google search link'

ALSO see father's research page for more information
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Death is uncertain: I have recorded his death as around 1620, based on FamilySearch FT [L8MS-WBW], but no source is noted. Most other family researchers do not record a death.

- with Klement Pedersson Porkka additional "managers": Marie Olaug Mellembråten Skålerud, Marianne Mitturn Kvilekval, and Anders Fjeldseth - Anders likely added the following comments on 7 Feb 2011
- and son Mats Klemetsson Porkka/Burke, managed by Tony Östlund with a date of 2 Dec 2018; https://www.geni.com/people/Mattis-Mats-Porkka-Mattes-Burk/6000000020552346650

- as with other geni.com Family Tree (FT), .
However, by following the above, we come to Klemet Pedersson Porkka's father, Peder or Peter Pedersson Porkka (Burk) born about 1535 at Siikajoki, Pohjanmaa lääni, Finland [this was added 9 May 2008 by Peter D Giacomini ]
NOTE: in some records the family name of Burk is used and some descendants have this family name

AND the geni.com FT note is also recorded by Kenneth Bergman, indicated below [ no source information ]

2. Kenneth Bergman data [ http://www.kenalexis.se/p8de812be.html ]

notes:

[Klemet Pedersson] "Came from Stöde in Medelpad [province] [ Västernorrland]. Settled in Ulvsjön where there were two resident Finns. He estimated for a total of 36 mål [ Swedish word is 'mål', but I don't know the meaning in this context; possibly an area unit measure? ].
In 1621 Klemet had two mares, five cows, three heifers, one bull, 13 sheep, one goat, four pigs and one barrel seeds on fields. He had four barrels of seed in a rye.
The two Finns were often fined for housing young unmarried Finnish men who were migrant type of workers [ Swedish, 'lösfinnar' ]. They were fined 40 marks each."
but the note is not clear if they family was in Graninge, Stode or, in the area in 1621

[ NOTE: Kenneth Bergman does not record a source for the above note; also he does not name the father of Klemet Pedersson b bet 1575-1580]

3. Richard Broberg, "Svenska landsmål och ...", 1988 [see my folder "Forest Finns" in Genealogy Resouces" for a copy of the downloaded PDF]

NOTE: it appears that Ulvsjön and Runnsjön were settled around the same time, accorrding to Richard Broberg on page 109 of his PDF (Svenska landsmål och ...] re: The two southernmost of these Finn homes, Ulvsjön and Runnsjön, are not only occupied in the same year, 1644, but also by persons of the same genus [family], namely the fairly dispersed genus Porkka in the Värmland countryside.

Ulvsjön, formerly also known as Ulvsjötorp, comprising the area around the Ulvsjöarna along with the present Fäbacken in Lekvattnet, was said that year at the home man Östmark's ownership of Finn Matts Larsson [the year reference is 1644. BUT there is a question of who this "Matts Larsson Porkka was"]. It appears that Ulvsjön was deserted by 1665 and it is not clear what happened to him (see research notes, under Lars Pedersson Porrka) with some researchers indicating where he went is unknown

[Ulvsjön is a narrow lake abt 5 kms to the north and west of Runnsjön and is abt 1 km north of Fäbacken, which is about 3 kms west of Runnsjön]

NOTE: there is some additional comments by Richard Broberg under the research notes for Lars Pedersson Porkka, b abt 1570

Runnsjön [page 110 of PDF]

The Runnsjön on the Torsby homestead was built by Finn Lars Clemetsson Porkka, which was apparently in full operation on the site perhaps as early as 1642, because at the court on 10/4 1643 it was decided that the board would call if any torp could be established in the Runnsjön forest.

3. b.

NOTE: further on in Richard Broberg's article, he says that the other person was Sigfrid Josefsson Hämäläinen who later (abt 1649) moved and settled on Vittjärn. The above geni.com FT notes that Sigfrid's wife was Lars Klemetsson Porkka's aunt, thus she would have have been a sister to Klemet Pedersson Porkka (the above FTs noted that he was born about 1575 in Finland).
- on another geni.com FT: Sigfrid's wife was Marit Örjansdotter (a sister to Klemet's wife, Karin Örjansdotter).
- Marit born about 1610 at the farm/village of Vittjärn and died about 1680 at Vittjärn, [later, about 1850 Vittjärn became part of the newer Lekvattnet parish, and hence the use of birth/death at Lekvattnet parish in the above geni.com FT]. I have written that she was born and died at Vittjärn based on Richard Broberg's information.
- The the family Porkka in the taxation books (mantal), are usually called Burk or Bork, and in Runnsjön, which in 1650 is taxed for 1/4 domestic tax. (page 111of the PDF). On page 109 of the PDF, Broberg refers to "Mathis Burck" as well as "Mattz Bork", and thus there are indications of the different spellings of the surname, Bork.
The above geni.com FT records names etc of Sigfrid Josefsson Hämäläinen and Marit Örjansdotter's children [ note Kenneth Bergman also records names of the children and he has some more information on two of the children; his direct link, http://www.kenalexis.se/pf3d79553.html .
Kenneth Bergman also notes that a son of Sigfrid was Johan Sigfridsson Hämäläinen, 1642-1717, and he had married Marit Eriksdotter Porkka, 1642-1722, and she was the daughter of Erik Klemetsson Porkka, b abt 1615, and Erik was the son of Klemet Pedersson Porkka, b abt 1575 ]. BUT also NOTE that Kenneth Bergman does not link Marit and Karing Örjansdotter as sisters

Link to above geni.com FT https://www.geni.com/people/Marit-%C3%96rjansdotter/6000000018908211804 ; owner/manager, Karin Frigaard Rybråten, date of 4 May 2018; information as above, along with some descendants
- Klemet Pedersson's wife as Karin Örjansdotter, born abt 1590 but no location is noted
- only notes her father's name as 'Örjan'
- 3 sisters are noted: Karin b abt 1690 married to Klemet Pedersson Porkka; Marit (as above); and
Kari b abt 1610 in Sverige (Sweden) and died 1686 at Abrahamstorpet /Langperstorpet, Austmarka, Vinger, Norway and married to Peder Pedersson Soikkainen (b abt 1575 in Finland and died abt 1616 at Stormörtsjön, Torp, Medelpad., Sverige (Sweden). But this is a bit confusings since this FT records his name as "Peder Pedersson Soikkainen (Porkka) or in Finnish, Pekka Pekanpoika Soikkanen (Soikkainen) and also known as"Per / Peder Persson / Pedersen Soikkainen / Porkka".
- if we connect back to the geni.com FT managed by Marie Olaug Mellembråten Skålerud, and noted in point 1,
the father of Klemet Pedersson Porkka was:
Peder Pedersson Porkka b abt 1535 ** see next, point 3.b. and point 4 (his father was Peder Burk, b abt 1500 and died abt 1540; and he had 3 sons:
(1) Peder Pedersson Soikkainen (Porkka) b 1575 ???
(2) Lars Pedersson Porkka b abt 1570
(3) Klemet Pedersson Porkka, b abt 1575 ????

Thus Kari Örjansdotter and Karin Örjansdotter married brothers; Kari m. Peder Pedersson and Karin m. Klemet Pedersson

- the above tree also notes that Kari was married again to Jacob Kirnuinen (1600-1640), and they likely had 2 children Jacob Pedersson Soikkainen b abt 1640 at Brandval and Jacob 1623-1715

According to the above geni.com FT, Peder Pedersson Porkka (Soikkainen), b abt 1535 was married twice (But this may not be 'our' relation)
first to Helena Andersdotter Tarvainen (svenska)
Barn: Per Pedersson Porkka 1602 - ?; Tomas Pedersson Porkka 1608 - ?; Margareta Pedersdotter Porkka 1611 - 1705; Anders Pedersson Porkka 1616 - 1706; Lars Persson Porkka; Erik Pedersson Porkka 1604 - ?; Johan Porkka 1610 - ?; Matti Pedersson Porkka 1615 - 1707; Erik Persson Porkka 1620 - 1720;
[ source, Källor: MyHeritage släktträd, Nordgren Family Tree in Gith Nordgren, administered av Gith Nordgren;
second to Kari Örjansdotter

It is very confusing using only the geni.com FT to figure out the mother of the children [ 7 Feb 2020 ]

4. Father of Klemet Pedersson Porkka (b abt 1575) was Peder Pedersson Porkka, b about 1535 at Siikajoki, Pohjanmaa lääni, Finland

AND possibly the father of Peder Pedersson Porkka (b abt 1535): was Peder Burk, b abt 1500 and died abt 1540, according to the following FT: BUT some of this FT is speculation only
[ https://www.geni.com/people/Peder-Burk/6000000049287177183 ; managed Espen Michael Clarke Øjerud, date June 17, 2018 ]
- this geni.com FT has the following note: [ google translate, 7 Feb 2020], BUT it is NOT Clear how accurate this is.

Peter (Peder) Burk is said to have been born around 1500 in Belgium. He was a walloon [French dialect and live in southern and eastern Belgium and neighboring parts of France] and gunsmith and must have come to Sweden in the 1530s and then to Karelia in Finland. He must have been sent to Viborg to manufacture weapons for the Finnish-Swedish army [at this time, it must have been only the Swedish army with Finns enlisted or drafted]. The name of his wife is not known. After his stay in Viborg, he and his family, together with 147 other families, likely moved to Österbotten as a settlers. One brother, Andres, was a blacksmith and ended up in Västergötland in Sweden. Since there is not a letter "B" in the Finnish alphabet, he was called Porkka (in Finnish} instead of Burk.
It is not known when or where he died. He is likely to have died in Siikajoki in Ostrobothnia (Oulu), Finland.
That the first ranks of this genus would be of Walloon descent have been discussed at Anbytarforum, but no one has yet been able to provide the people with any source references! All information about this ancestry refers to Börje Olsson as a submitter.

HOWEVER: there seems to be disagreement regarding this: [ BUT this is speculation only - since it is unlikely Peder Burk was born in Belgium ]

there are a number of pages re: Bürk or Burk on Anbytarforum; see my document, "Porkka - Bork/ Bürk surname posts, from Anbytarforum, 1999-2002 "

5. Note that the above geni.com FT (added by Peter D. Giacomini on May 9, 2008) likely not correct ???????

records that Klemet Pedersson Porkka had a daughter, Kari Klemetsdotter Porkka b about 1619 at Arkiva, Värmland BUT this is about 100 Kms to the south of Vittjarn. And that she died 1683 at Fagernes, Bandval Finnskog, Kongsvinger, Hedmark, Norge (Norway). AND she was married to Johan Persson Soikkainen, born abt 1610 at Stora Mörtsjön, Medelpad, Sweden; and died February 13, 1707 at
Fagernes, Vinger, Norway

[ she is not recorded by Kenneth Bergman, nor is son Peder ]

Larry Eriksson on 14 Jun 2014 adds a son, Peder Klemetsson Porkka possibly b about 1595 and records a note that he owned 1/2 of the homeplace. ??????? But notes, source: Magne Ivar Mellem och Niklas Persson, but no reference 8559,8560,8561,8562

Klemet married Karin Örjansdotter. (Karin Örjansdotter was born about 1590 in Sweden 8560.)
