See notes. Engelbret Engelbretsson (b 1784) was born outside of marriage (öakta). His mother was Kjerstin Jonsdotter or Johansdotter, 1754-1830. It should be noted that her efternamn (patronymic name) is uncertain. The church records first record her as "Johansdotter" and then Jonsdotter, although in some records the second letter looks more like the letter "a". The geni.com FT and Disbyt FT record her as Kjerstin Jansdotter. It does not appear that she had remarried or that she had any other children. Engelbret Engelbretsson lived with his mother. It is not clear if he had a relationship with his father.

My Legacy database will show him as a step son to Engelbret Ivarsson's wife, Karin Parsdotter, 1753-1825. The records suggest that Engelbret Ivarsson (b 1755) and Karin Parsdotter did not have any involvement in Engelbret Engelbretsson's (b 1784) upbringing, and that he lived most of this early years with his mother.
