Ivar Nilsson ⁸⁴⁷¹

  Research Notes:

1. Given Name: Ivar. Most of the early church records his name is spelled "Ifwar". The spelling then changed to "Ifvar" and then to "Ivar". His children's patronymic name also had spelling variations. Also some others have used the spelling variations. For the most part, I have used the spelling, "Ivar".



2. Note: Ivar Nilsson (b 1713) was married 3 times. First to Karin Olofsdotter who was the mother of "our" Nils Ivarsson and who died a couple of years after the birth of Nils. I have not been able to find much information on Karin Olofsdotter, but see her research notes.

brief summary:
Ivar Nilsson was my 6th great-grandfather. He was married 3 times. He was first married Karin Olofsdotter (1720-1743). Ivar and Karin had 1 child, my 5th great grandfather, Nils Ifvarsson (1740-18200; there are a couple of spelling variations of the patronymic, with "Ivarsson" as the most common.

Ivar Nilsson (1713-1787) was married a second time to Britta Engelbretsdotter (1719-1758). They had 4 children, with the oldest Hallsten Ivarsson (1749-1739). He was the grandfather of Halsten Persson (1804-1855) and as indicated, 4 of Halsten Persson's children had left Östmark parish for Minnesota - his decendants were the "Settergren families", "Per Halstensson families " and numerous others. Many of these families initially settled in the Stockholm Twp, Wright Co, MN area. From there some of the families moved to the Sheyenne, Eddy Co, area of North Dakota, and from there some went to the Kennedy SK area and the north Okanagan area of British Columbia. Many other families continued to lived in the Wright Co are of MN and some went a bit further west into Meeker Co, MN.

In 1859, Ivar Nilsson married a third time to Catharina Bengtsdotter [1723-1791]. They did not have children.

Note: from a geni.com FT and MyHeritage (Kristine Vial, 4 Jan 2018): Linus Brodin describes in her book "Fryksdalens finnsocknar" that Långerud is a Finnhemman (Finn homesite) while the villages of Östmark, Sörmark and Mellmark are the only Swedish villages in this area.
This FT also uses the Finnish Family Name of: Ivar Nilsson Luukkonen (b. 1713). However in the PDF of Finnish Family Names (Niclas Persson, Jan Myvhrold ... ) that spelling is NOT noted; but there are some named "Luokkainen or Luukkainen" in Lekvattnet, Gråsmark, Norra Ny, as early as 1664 (but not with given names).
On Anbytarforum there is a post with the spelling "Luukkonen or Luukkanen" primarily a name in Finland (but doesn't talk about a family connection).

If Ivar Nilsson's (b 1713) ancestors/descendants were connected with the Finnish Family Name of "Luokkainen or Luukkainen" it appears to be unknown and unused with the FT's (family tree) researchers connected with the family and that I have used (such as Annelie Margareta Viklund-Johnsson; 26 Apr 2018.
