1. Summary

Kjerstin Engelbretsdotter, b 1816; and died, 25 Dec 1904

Kjerstin Engelbretsdotter is the eldest daughter of Engelbret Engelbretsson and Ingeborg Nilsdotter. She was born on 17 Nov 1816 at Östmark village and died on 25 Dec 1904 at Millmark. She worked on various farms for a number of years from around 1836 until she was married on 27 Mar 1759 to Erik Mattsson from Millmark. Kjerstin Engelbretsdotter had a child born outside of marriage. He was named Nils Nilsson born in 1844. His father is somewhat uncertain, but possibly he was Nils Nilsson (see below). Kjerstin Engelbretsdotter and Erik Mattsson had one boy named Erik (Eriksson). He was born in Jun 1861 but he died less than a year later in Apr 1862. The records do not record Kjerstin having other children.

The Sweden Church records have at least 2 confusing aspects in respect to Kjerstin Engelbretsdotter b 1816.(1). The acutal marriage record of 27 Mar 1859 record the marriage of Erik Mattsson from Millmark and Kjerstin Klementsdotter from Björsviken. At the same time, the Household Records volumes for the years 1859-1904 record her name as Kjerstin Engelsbretsdotter and the wife of Erik Mattsson (b 1810) at Millmark. It appears that the parish priest made a mistake and recorded the wrong name of female in the marriage record.
(2). The actual birth record (CI:3, p 207) for Kjerstin's son, Nils Nilsson (b 23 Jun 1844) records his parents as Nils Nilsson at Marielund (followed with another place, appearing to be like "Conradsforss" - this actually a bruk or farm in Långerud, page 439) and Kjerstin Hinricksdotter. However, the Household records starting with volume AI:13 from 1844 to volume AI:16 (1859) record Nils Nilsson (b 23 Jun 1844) as the son of Kjerstin Engelsbretsdotter. And the Household Record vol (AI:13, page 92 (Marielund) records Kjerstin Engelsbretsdotter but no one named Kjerstin Hinricksdotter. It appears that the parish priest made a mistake and recorded the wrong name of the mother.

As I noted above, Kjerstin Engelsbretsdotter (b 1816) worked on a number of farms between the years 1831 to 1836 and then to 1844 (prior to her marriage in 1859, from years 1844 to 1859, it appears that she lived at Björsviken, gat the farm of her brother's, Par Engelsbretsson; after her marriage in 1859, she moved to Millmark, the home place of Erik Mattsson. Using the Household records as a guide, I have reviewed her comings and goings where she recorded as a "pige" or female servant/worker:

Vol AI:11, 1830-1835
1830-34page 81with her parents at Östmark, although in 1831 she lived for awhile at another farm in Östmark
1834page 85, Östmark

Vol AI:12, 1836-1840
1835-1840pages, 94, 100, and 101various farms in Östmark village

Vol AI:13,1841-1846
1841page 102Östmark
1842-43page 439Långerud - Conradsforss Bruk
1843page 92Östmark - Marielund
1844page 187Östmark - Björsviken

Reviewing again the birth record for Kjerstin Engelbretsdotter's son, Nils Nilsson b 1844, his father is noted as Nils Nilsson from Conradsforss and then in a different or darker ink and before the name of the father, the place name of Marielund. I reviewed the people recorded at Långerud - Conradsforss Bruk (Vol AI:13, page 439) and found the name Nils Nilsson b 1819 at Sörmark. He came to Conradsforss in 1841 from Sörmark. And it is recorded that in 1844 he left Conradsforss to move to Fryksände parish. This is confirmed by the moving out records (vol B:1, page 27 no 36). However, the entry does not make it clear (or at least I'm not sure of the meaning of the note) when he moved out - there appears to be two dates, 5 May and 27 Oct. Both Nils Nilsson (b 1819) and Kjerstin Engelbretsdotter (b 1816) were at Conradsforss from sometime in 1842 until sometime in 1843. Thus it is possible that they had a relationship during this time (since Kjerstin's son was born on 23 June, he likely was conceived sometime around Sept or Oct of 1843).

Although there is no definitive evidence that the father of Nils (b 1844) was Nils Nilsson (b 1819), I think that this is a reasonable conclusion. The geni.com FT (post by Richard Arthur Neary on 2 Apr 2018 (and linked to post of Christina Minda Bryrntesson of 18 Jun 2019) notes that the father of Nils (b 1844) was Nils Börjessen. However they do not provide any details on the surname. *** See point 2 below

There is one FamilySearch FT (id GM1Y-CB8) - Nils Nilsson b 1844, but this FT does not name his father and only names his children. It does have some additional information on the wife of Nils Nilsson, b 1884 - Karin Larsdotter b 1846.

It seems to me that the parish priest was getting confused and recording incorrect information, and is the only reasonable conclusion based on all the records.

Conclusions: (1) Kjerstin Engelbretsdotter (b 1816) had a son born outside of marriage, named Nils Nilsson(b 1844), and his father was Nils Nilsson (b 1819). She had married Erik Mattsson (b 1810) and they had a son name Erik Eriksson born in 1816, but he died in 1862. Kjerstin and Erik Mattsson did not have other children.

2. RE: Nils Börjessen19 Sep 2019

(a)

A given name of "Börje" or patronmyic name (surname) of "Börjessen" does not appear to be common in the Östmark area, although I had first found the name "Jon Björjessen" at Östmark village (AI:5; born 1766 and died 1802). Further research stemming from this post, we find an extended family with the patronmyic name of "Börjessen" at Östmark village in Östmak Parish [Household record volumes all refer to Östmark parish; NOTE: I only reviewed Östmark parish records; however there are a couple of exceptions as noted, "Fryksände]:

1st generation:
Arvid Olsson, 1710-1795 [AI:4 p. 11, line 7] and Kjerstin Jonsdotter, 1716 [AI:1 p. 6, AI:4 p. 11, line 7]
[Fryksände, AI:5, p 167; also Enken Jon, b 1678, d 1756 - father of Arvid? ]
2nd generation:
Börje Arvidsson, 1738-1784 and Karin Olofsdotter, 1738-1788 [AI:1 p. 6; deaths, AI:2]
Jon Arvidsson, 1745- and Britta Nilsdotter, 1741[AI:1, p 7; Fryksände, CI:2, p 217]
Olof Arvidsson, 1746
Karin Arvidsdotter, 1749
3rd generation:(Börge Arvidsson)[AI:1 p. 6]
Olof Börjesson,1763
Jon Börjesson,1766
Arvid Börjesson,1768-1768
Marit Börjesdotter, 1774-1779
Kjerstin Börjesdotter, 1777
Lars Börjesson, 1779 [AI:2 p. 9]
3rd generation:(Jon Arvidsson)
Börje Jonsson, 1785
3rd generation: (Jon Börjesson]
Börje Jonsson, 1785 - no evidence that he was married or had any children
* I have reviewed Börje Jonsson through the Östmark parish household records, volumes AI:4 to AI:11, covering the years 1794-1835, and I have not found that he had any child. In the household record volume AI:12 (1836-1840) it is recorded that this Börje Jonsson died in 1836.
So far, I have only found one other person with the given name of "Börje". This is Börje Pehrsson born in 1802 in Fryksände parish. However, he had married Marit Nilsdotter born about 1809 from Sörmark in Östmark parish and they lived in Sörmark. They did have a son named Nils Börjessen, but he was born on 18 Jun 1834 (at Sörmark). It is very unlikely that this Nils Börjessen could have been the father of Nils Nilsson (b 1844), since he would have been only about 10 years old in 1844.
It should be noted that Arvid Olsson b 1710 (noted above as 1st generation) did have other children and they had children. Also Börje Arvidsson (b 1738) also had other descendants. Thus it is possible there could be others with the given name "Börje" or patronmyic name "Börjesson" that I have not found or researched. It also possible that someone name "Nils Börjesson" had come to Östmark from another parish.

My Overall Conclusion: Based on my reviewed of the church records, I believe that the father of Nils Nilsson b 1844 was in fact Nils Nilsson (b 1819) and that the birth record for Nils Nilsson b 1844 mistakenly recorded the wrong person as the his mother.

3. Nils Nilsson b 12 Jul 1867

Based on the information from the above geni.com FT (managed by Richard Arthur Neary, with update of 5 Dec 2014 and Christina Minda Bryntessen, with update of 4 Nov 2014; link to Nils Nilsson, b 1844: https://www.geni.com/people/Nils-Nilsson/6000000005625714585) I was able to find the birth/baptism record [CI:4 p 153 and CI:5 p 107 no 15]. This clearly names Nils Nilsson's (b 1867) father as Nils Nilsson from Östmark and his mother as Ingeborg Nilsdotter age 21 (b 1846) from Långerud, but she recorded in the Houshold Record vol AI:22 (1866-1870) at Östmark Bergsidan. In this record she is noted as pige and that she has an "ö.a" son, Nils Nilsson b 12 Jul 1867 and it is also noted that she had come from Östmark (p 14) in 1867 - Ingeborg Nilsdotter was born at Bergsidan, and 1870 she and her son move to page 293, Sörmark Hattacktorp. On the right had column for Nils Nilsson b 1867, it is recorded "Dr(ang) Nils Nilsson 432". This references drang Nils Nilsson on page 432 (Millmark) and a step-son to Erik Mattsson b 1810 and the son of Kjerstin Engelbretsdotter b 1816. This further confirms that the father of Nils Nilsson b 1867 was in fact Nils Nilsson b 1844.
Following the household records for Ingeborg Nilsdotter (b 1846) and her son Nils Nilsson (b 1867), they lived at Bergsidan, but in 1876 Ingeborg married Karl Karlsson Bornstedt (b 1848). This is noted in household record volume AI:28 (p 373) and Ingeborg and Karl have other children. Nils Nilsson (b 1867) continues to live with his mother and "step-father" until 1897. On 7 May 1897 [moving out records, B:5, p 7 no 8] Nils Nilsson (b 1867) leaves Östmark parish for Haverö parish in Vasternorrland [about 360 kms north-east of Östmark]. It is not clear why he left, but it appears from the moving out records that he traveled by himself. His mother and his step-family had moved to Tväråna in Östmark parish in 1896. From the records it is uncertain Nils Nilsson b 1867 had a relationship with his father, Nils Nilsson b 1844; however, it is likely that they knew each other.
Nils Nilsson b 1867 is found in the Haverö parish Household records at the farm/village of Östvall where it is recorded that he married Anna Kajsa Gisselsson (b 1872 in Ytterhogal Parish). It appears that Nils Nilsson (b 1867) began using a surname of "Hedlund" in Haverö parish. Nils and Anna Kajsa had at least 6 children (she had a son from a previous relationship (see point 2 above). Nils Nilsson (b 1867) was a Telegrafarbetare, Telearb or Telegraph worker (geni.com FT)
According to the above noted geni.com FT, Nils Nilsson b 1867 died 14 Aug 1950. He also had a nick name of "Stor-Nils". I have Not researched his children other that nothing their names.
