- John Johnsen Midtdal, family emigrated to Canada from Norway in 1905; first to the Battle Lake area; homestead/farm in the Westerose area
- BUT - "... after arriving in Wetaskwin, they spent a few weeks at Crooked Lake, where they had a cousin, Elgoen. He took them as far as Falun ...."

[ but not sure of the relationship - further research needed; 18 Aug 2013 -- RG] [ 8 Aug 2013 ] Crooked Lake is/was also known as Coal Lake and is about 1 km north of Gwyne, AB, about 10 kms east of Wetaskiwin; There is Jorgen Elgaaen and O I Elgaaen and Oliver Elgaaen on the AB homestead index, but this is on Sec 4, Twp 43, Range 14, W 4th - this is in the Forestburg, AB area. Oliver Elgaaen is also listed at Sec 32, Twp 53, Range 15, W 4th. more in the Vegreville area
