1. Four sources (two from www. worldconnect.rootsweb.com - Patrice Galliath; Patrice GGG@aol.com and Marie Tomren; www.tomren.org; ebjornass family trees on ancestry (includes information on John N Berg) and Orville Movold ---- see below) report information that Guri Simensdtr married Ole Estensen Båtmann, then Ole Esten Kotmo marriage to Marit Eriksdtr Berg and down to Ole Olsen Berg (1882-1888); however, Orville Movold does not provide information about Guri's descendents

These clearly record Simen Mortensen's wife as Magnhild, and children as Anders Simensen, Morten Simensen, Jon Simensen, and Guri or Guren Simensdtr (married to Ole Estensen Bakman). These children are named a number of times in the document. However, Eli or Elen is not; so either she was not a daughter or had died prior to 1752 with no children.

Conclusion - Guri and Eli Simensdtr Hulbækdal / Grue -- sisters to our Jon Simensen Grue, born 1729 ???


It is very likely that Guri or Guren (married to Ole Esten Bakmand or Bakman or Båtmann) is a sister to our Jon Simensen Grue, born 1729, therefore the daughter of Simen Mortensen Hulbækdal, born 1680. Simen Mortensen's probate document provides fairly convincing evidence of this conclusion.

It is probable that Eli is a sister to our Jon Simensen Grue, born 1729. Howerver, at this point there is no convincing evidence of this conclusion. Further research is needed.

On my Legacy database, I have decided to include both Guri and Eli as 'half-sisters' to Jon Simensen Grue, born 1729. I have recorded their mother as Anne Andersdatter, citing IGI as the source, BUT with a low level of surety - #1, or marginal evidence. Although there is little evidence of their mother, given the year of birth indications on the Norway Parish Records with the birth of Guri around 1720 and birth for Eli around 1717, Anders in 1715, and Morten in 1723, Guri and Eli's mother likely was Ane Anderstdr and not Magnhild Jonsdatter (she is noted to have only one son).


Conclusion - parents of Esten Olsen Kotmo


There is no convincing evidence indicating the parents of Esten Olsen Kotmo. The Norway Parish Registers include two individuals with the name Esten Olsen with differing birth dates and differing parents. The marriage record for Esten Olsen and Pernille Olsdatter with a residence of M Tolgenslie suggest that that Marie Tollan's information is possibly more accurate (Digitarkivet - Tolga Ministerialbok, 1786-1814, Vigde I Tolga prestegjeld).

At present I am using the information from Holly Tomren; therefore I am using the parents of Esten Olsen Kotmo as Ole Esten (Båtmann) and Guri Simensdatter Hulbækdal - Grue , with a surety level of #1, marginal evidence. It is clear that further research is needed. ^{925,972,981,997,1070}
