- these sources gives Esten Olsen Kotmo's (born 1752, died 1814) father as Ole E. Båtmann and Guri Simensdtr Grue (Hulbækdal) - a sister to our John Simensen Grue (Hulbækdal)

- also note these sources give two children of Esten Olsen Kotmo as Ole Esten Kotmo, born 1779 and Ole Esten Kotmo, born 1783 (the second Ole Esten as the father of Ole Olsen Berg)

Tolgenslien mellom (middle) - Moen - 1754? - this isn't clear, but likely indicates some uncertainity of birth - either 1752 or 1754.

- this source also indicates that Esten Olsen Kotmo's father as Ole Larsen Garmager Tolgen, born 1718 in Hodalen, died 1776; married in 1753 to Ingeborg Toresdtr Moen, born 1730 in Tolgenski; died 1811

On the abandoned [auden - audn or audne] dwelling was the first user name Esten Olsen. After him came his son Ole Estensen born 1779. In 1809 income was for the widow Ingeborg Pedersdatter [ Ingeborg Pedersdtr was married to Henning Pettersen who had died; Ingeborg and Henning had no children; it was some time later that Esten Olsen and Pernellie came to the farm and some time after 1809, Ingeborg had abandoned the farm ].

He [Ole Estensen, born 1779] was married twice; his first marriage to Dordi Jørgensdatter Sandmæl, and with her had a son, Peder. She died in 1808, and Ole Estensen married again to Kari Knudsdatter Nordvang, Vingelen, who died in 1856. There were no children from this marriage. That Ole Estensen had a younger brother of the same name, who was involved in the hostilities of the War of 1808-1814, but later came home; he [later] went by the name of Kotskomageren and he died 1871.

After Ole Estensen [born 1779], his son Peder became the farmer [owner]. He [Peder] was married to Kari Ingebretsdatter from Dølgaard in 1838; they had 2 children, Ole and Engebret. Ole was unmarried and for a long time was a worker at the Tolgen smelter. Engebret was married to Barbro Svensdatter from Lilliehaug. Of their children, Peder is in America, Sivert at home, dattern Kjerstine married with Ole O Erlien, and they later moved to Holtaalen, where she died, daughter Marit was married to Ole Eggen, and they travelled to America, and Petronille (married Ole Tollan in Kassan) is also dead [or she died at Kassen].

Based on the differing dates (1750, 1752, 1754), no conclusive birth date can be assigned. Therefore, on the Legacy database, I have used his birth as 'between 1750-1754'. [ see folder for complete article ]

There is no convincing evidence indicating the parents of Esten Olsen Kotmo. The Norway Parish Registers include two individuals with the name Esten Olsen with differing birth dates and differing parents. The marriage record for Esten Olsen and Pernille Olsdatter with a residence of M Tolgenslie suggest that that Marie Tollan's information is possibly more accurate (Digitarkivet \endash Tolga Ministerialbok, 1786-1814, Vigde I Tolga prestegjeld).

At present I am using the information from Holly Tomren; therefore I am using the parents of Esten Olsen Kotmo as Ole Esten (Båtmann) and Guri Simensdatter Hulbækdal \endash Grue, with a surety level of #1, marginal evidence. It is clear that further research is needed.

Based on the information from the Norway Parish Registers, the names and births of the children on the Legacy database appear to be accurate with a surety level # 2, probable conclusion.

There is no convincing evidence that the father of Ole Olsen Berg, born 1822, was Ole Estensen Kotmo, born 1783; however, it is probable. There is convincing evidence that the parents of Ole Olsen Berg were Ole Esten Kotmo and Marit Eriksdtr Berg. Therefore, I have included this information on my Legacy database with a surety level of #3, almost certain conclusion
