There are sources or information that support birth as 1795 and some that do not support this birth year

Sources/Information that support birth year of 1795:

1) baptism, 8 Mar 1795 - Norway parish registers; Marie Tollan's transcription (see above)
- baptism is recorded in Chronological list for 1795, page 94, line 15 (Ministerialbok 1786-1814) (see below, point 8)
2) baptism, 8 Mar 1795 - information from Orville Movold; however, that is the baptism date and so birth would have been earlier but not likely in late 1794 (reviewing Norway Parish Registers indicates that the bapitizm is around 1 month after birth in Tolga);
3) Tolga-Narbuvoll Klokkerbok and Tolga Ministerialbok - burial in 1876 records birth in 1795
4) Norway Parish Registers -- confirmations 30 Sept 1810, Ous ( Marie Tollan's transcriptions)
- Konfirmant - Kirsti Nielsdtr, residence Holøyen; 15 aar <1795>
5) Norway Parish Registers -- birth/baptism as above, BUT
note -- there is another Kirsten Nielsdatter (same parents, with residence as Nordholøyen) bap 12 Dec 1793, and a burial on 13 Apr 1794 for Kirsten Nielsdatter age 1/2 years, thus birth abt Nov 1794; BUT burials 13 Apr 1794 for Kirsten Nielsdt, age 1/2 and thus birth about Oct 1793> ;; residence Holøyen;
6) 1801 Norway under Niels Evensen family (Gard 102), lists Kirsti Nielsdtr age as 7 for the year 1801, thus putting her birthdate in 1794 (age given in the 1801 Census was for the "coming year" or next birthdate, not the previous birthdate, so if this was followed, her birth would be 1795 ); Niels' wife, Marit, son Even, age 5, son Jacob, age 1
7) there is no other person recorded in the 1865 Norway Census who was born 1796 named Kirsti Nilsd or Kersti Nilsd or Kjersti Nilsd (or Nelsd or Nielsd, or Neilsd

- under Public Member Tree 'Much Improved and Synched 2012 owner kenbus50' from Peoria, AZ with last log on week of Aug 12, 2012; in 2014 this tree was updated, and renamed 'Family Pride 2014' with is last login in May 2015; Niels Evensen Prestlien, born 1768 - http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/65170420/person/30132038684 ;; it is not clear why the surname Prestlien is used - possibly he died at his son's farm, Mikkel Nilsen Prestlien as suggested by another family tree 'Sonmor Family Tree owner jwamundsen with last login in May 2015, link to Nils Evensen Sonmor, http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/12993932/person/-142678327 ; however note that the Sonmor Family Tree records only one Kirsti Nilsdtr, 1793-1794

From the KenBus tree:
- Kirsten Nielsdatter Søndmør, born 1795 (but 8 Apr) married to Ole Anderson Vestegard (with no dates) and source information - Tolga Gards og Slektshistorie; also lists Norway Parish registers - Chronological list 1795, page 94, line 15 (Ministerialbok 1786-1814) - viewing this [ 23 July 2010 & 29 May 2015], Kirsten is listed, along with Niels Evenson (Sonmor) and Marit Jacobsdatter as a parents (?) etc.... and witnesses, but difficult to make out; the last 2 columns I believe record the date of baptism and the day it was recorded in the parish register?; the Kronologisk liste (a chronlogical log) is a list of changes or events in the parish and records births, deaths and marriages and this was likely the precursor to the Parish Registers with separate pages/sections for births, etc.
- also lists Norway Parish Registers, with the first entry as Rendal as a source for her birth -- this is likely an error that has not been corrected, since it is mentioning years in the 1862 and thus refering to someone else entirely
- this family tree also has some photos (Iver Botten and Clara Prestlien)
- Mikkel Nielsen Søndmør , as 2 Mar 1812 (source - Norway Digital Archives -- but link is broken, so no reference to date etc) and married to Anna Beate Iversdatter Prestlien with her birth abt 1826, but not her parenst or any of their children (no source)
- Mikkel Nilsen Sonmer Prestlien , born 2 Mar 1812 at the Prestlien Farm and married in 1843 to Anna Beatha Iversdatter, born the 12 Mar 1826 ( no sources, other than 1880 US Census)

== relationship (17 Aug 2012) is through Jacob Nielsen Søndmør descendants - Jacob was born 18 Oct 1800 and died 13 Jul 1886; Jacob was a brother to Mikkel Nielsen and Kirsten Nielsdtr


Sources/Information that support birth year of either 1794, 1793 or 1796, but not 1795:

1) Tolga - Gards og Slektshistorie, page 592-593 ; Røstbakken, gnr 77, bnr 4
- lists Kirsti Nilsdatter Søndmør birth as 1796;
HOWEVER there are some errors or at least inconsitencies in this source material
- under the Søndmør farm (page 554) Kirsti's birth is recorded as 1794, but under the Røstbakken farm (page 592) her birth is recorded as 1796; additionally under Søndmør it is recorded that she married Ole Andersen Vestgård (I have not found any other record for someone name Ole Andersen Vestgård), but under the Røstbakken farm she is recorded married to Ole Olsen Vestgård (Andershaugen); under the farm Vestgård Østre (pages 595-596), Ole born 1789 (son of Ole Andersen, 1760-1837) married to Kirsti Nilsdatter Søndmør and referenced to Røstbakken ("sjå Røstbakken")
2) 1865 Norway Census records Kirsti's age as 72 years, thus 1793 or 1794 [ enumeration was in Jan 1866 and was meant to be the age that the person would be in coming year, 1866 ]; she is listed as Svigermoder - mother-in-law to head of household Iver Torgersen Røstbakken
3) Linda Solheim Petsch (her mother was Esther Torgerson - her great grandmother was Kjersti Movold, whose mother was Marit Olsdtr Røstbakken -- Marit's mother as Kjersti Olson (born Nilsdatter), born 2 Feb 1794 and died 5 July 1876 and Marit's father as Ole Olson, born 6 Feb 1789 and died in 1876
4) Glen Torgerson (a great grandson of Kjersti Movold) in an email of 19 April 2010 reported that Olava and Marit's parents were Ole Olson, born March 1789, and Kirsti (Røstbakken), who was born 2 Feb 1794
5) Tolga Marriage from the Norway parish registers for the year 1817 records Kirsti's age as 24, thus birth as 1793 or 1794

- records birth as 1796, father as Nils Evensen Søndmør and mother as 'private' Søndmør (Lansjoen)

7) Ancestry.com Public Member trees; search Nils Evensen Søndmør, born 1768 in Norway
- there are number of public member trees that record only the name of one Kirsti Nilsdatter Søndmør with a birth of 1793 and death of 1794; they do not record the birth of a second daughther named Kirsti - note that it was common to in Norway to name the first born daughter with the name of the paternal grandmother (Kirsti Olsdatter Ørvøyen) and if that first born daughter died, then the name of the another daughter would be after the paternal grandmother



Based on my review, I have concluded and recorded on the Legacy database:

Conclusion : Kirsti Nilsdatter Søndmør's birth: as Feb 1795


Although there is not definitive proof of her birth date, it seems that likely the more accurate information is from the Norway Parish Registers and the orginal and primary records for her birth/baptism, confirmation and her burial. These records are recorded closest to the actual event, and likely recorded by a realiable person known to the family at the time of the events (of course, the exception to this is the age given in the marriage record)
