Marit Jacobsdatter Langsjøen

Summary:

Marit Jacobsdatter, b in 1769. Marit was married to Nils Evensen Søndmør [1768-1819], and they are my 4th great-grandparents. Their grand daughter was Olava Olsdtr Røstbakken, 1823-1919. Olava married Simen Thoreson Grue, 1823-1903. Simen and Olava emigrated in 1868 to Otter Tail Co, Minnesota. They later came to the Armena, Alberta district with their son Thore Simensen Grue. They are both buried at the Old Skandia Cemetery.

I am related to the first "owner's" of farm Langsjoen, in the southern part of Tolga parish [after 1911, Langsjøen has become apart of the Engerdal parish when it was formed].

Jakob Nilsen Vargåen [1725-1796] and Kari Kirstoffersdatter [1733-1786] were my 4th great-grandparents, and Jakob Nilsen was the first settler on Langsjøen. Jakob and Kari had 7 children, with the youngest dying at about age 6 months. Their 5th child was Marit Jacobsdatter, b in 1769 and was married to Nils Evensen Søndmør [1768-1819].

Another daughter was Ingeborg Jacobsdatter Langsjøen, b 1779. She was married to Ole Evensen Søndmør, the elder, 1771-1848. Ole Evensen was my 4th great granduncle, a brother to Nils Evensen Søndmør my 4th great grandfather. Ole Evensen and Ingeborg's children are my 1st cousins, and a few of them emigrated to the US - see Ole Evensen's page for descendants.

Sørgård Nordre, ..... is said to be the oldest farm in Øversjødalen. The clearing man here was Kristoffer Olsen Myre from Os, b. 1685, d. 1754. married Ingeborg Sivertsdatter from Sjursgarden Narjordet, b. 1691, d. 1768. .... . It appears from this that Kristoffer Olsen [b1685] , who then bore the surname Nøren, was married to Ingeborg Sivertsdatter Bækken.
Kristoffer Olsen and Ingeborg Sivertsdatter had the following children:
Ole the elder, b. 1730,
Ole the younger, b. 1735, cleared Svarthaugen, married Gjertrud Hansdatter from Sund in Os,
Kari, b. 1733, was the first to be born in Øversjodalen and married Jakob Nilsen Langsjøen,
Kirsti, b. 1739.
