Mikkel did not become an enterprising farmer, but he had many good friends, and he was a wise man, so he often turned misfortune into good fortune for himself, and the womenfolk were well taken care of. Mikkel, who was born in 1820, died in 1897. He was married to Olava Jonsdtr. Grue b. 1826 and d. 1895. They had 3 sons and 2 daughters. The two eldest sons died as infants of scarlet fever.
