Anne Mikkelsdatter

  Research Notes:

Summary: Anne Mikkelsdatter is my 2 cousin 3 times removed. Her grandfather was Jon Jonsen Grue, 1783-1863. This Jon Jonsen Grue was a youngest son of my 4th great-grand father, Jon Simensen Grue, 1729-1807 and his second wife, Gertrude Toresdatter Breen.

In 1889, Anne left Tolga parish for North America. It is not clear if she traveled on her own or with others although there are others from Tolga parish at the same time.

It is not clear where she lived in the US, but there is her marriage record from Hudson, St Croix Co, WI [the the WI side of the Mississippi River, and about 40 kms east of Minneapolis. Anne was married on 22 Jun 1897 to Nils Ostgaard. Nils is recorded living at Prairie Farm, Barron Co, WI, about 85 kms east of Hudson.

By June 1900, Anne and Nils/Nels were living in Minneapolis and census records indicated they continued to live there. Nils died in Jan 1925 and Anne died on 2 Jan 1950. Anne and Nils had 9 children, although, 3 had died as infants.

Note: I have not research Anne's children in any detail, although I have found some census information.

and at the same cemetery are three babies linked to her: Gina Sophia Constance Ostgaard, 1903-1904; Michael Ostgaard, 1904-1904; and baby girl Ostgaard, 1907-1907 .... BUT these do not match Ancestry Family Trees or census records

Vang ??? - this implies that she married some one else ??
BUT:

* Hudson is about 40 kms east of downtown Minneapolis, and on the eastern side of the Mississippi River.

NOTE: This marriage record may explain the findagrave post 230122222 and the use of the name "Vang". The marriage record spells the name Ving. It is not clear why Anne's father is named as "Michael Ving", perhaps is may be related to a name of a hut/house/farm that her parents lived at in Tolga parish, Norway ... futher research is needed [23 Oct 2024]
