Research Notes:
Brief summary:
Tobias Johnsen Grue, 1852-1914
Tobias is the oldest son of John T Grue (1852-1914]. Tobias is my 1st cousin, 3 times removed.
Tobias was born at Røros parish in Norway. He left Norway in 1880 and he was the first person of the John Thorsen Grue family to leave. Tobias first went to the home/farm of my 2nd great-grandfather, Simen T Grue, at Tordenskjold Twp, in Otter Tail Co, MN. In 1884 in Otter Tail Co, he married Baret/Berit Sorken. Tobias and Baret then went to Stony Brook Twp in Grant Co and living with his parents, John T Grue. Sometime before 1895, Tobias move to Tumuli Twp in Otter Tail Co and he lived there and farmed until his death in 1914.
Tobias and Baret had 7 children. With the exception of their 2nd child who died around age 2, their other children grew to adulthood, married and had children. I have done a fair amount of research on the family of Tobias J Grue over the years.
