- appears that the family name changed to Kildall
- source of the 1910 US Census, Ten Mile Precint, ED#356, Whatcom Co, WA

(a) Nekoline NOT Vervified if Nekoline is the daughter of Ingeborg
information gathered
- Terrill Hayes 23 Aug 2009 -- indicates that Nekoline Mikkelson is the daughter of Ingeborg from an unknown relationship; it appears that this may be based on an email he received from "a cousin" on 8 March 2003
- Nekoline is recorded in 1880 US Census under Lars Mikkelson (Senior) household, as a daughter, age 8 <1872>; Ingeborg is also listed as a daughter with occupation as a 'Domestic Servant';
- neither Ingeborg or Nekoline are listed with Lars Mikkelson household in the 1885 (Nekoline is with Hartvig and Ingeborg) or 1895 MN State (Nekoline not recorded in 1895);
- 1900 US Census indicates Ingeborg is the mother of 8 children with 6 living - Hilmina died (Lou Larsen information) in 1 Dec 1894, but 6 other children were living in 1900, thus, 1 unrecorded child died between 1885 and 1895 - possibly Nekoline
- 1910 US Census records Ingeborg is the the mother of 8 children with 5 living - died - Hilmina, Ingerram, and ? -- Nekoline - most likely
- MN State Census - see below

1885 MN State Census, Lake Park, Becker Co
- Hartvig age 41, Ingeborg age 30, Nekoline age 13 <1872>, Mical age 1 <1884> - both children born in MN; family # 63
- also listed with family is Christine Olson, age 40, born in Norway

1895 MN State Census, (Village of) Lake Park, Becker Co --- NOTE: image is of poor quality, but I believe with high confidence that this is Hartvig Kildahl family
- Hartvig age 50, Ingeborg age 41, Mical age 11, Jacob age 9 <1886>, Simonette age 6 <1889>, Annie [ spelling ? ] age 4 <1891>, Hans age 9 months <Oct 1894>; all children born in MN
- Hartvig listed as a School Teacher, resident of the state for 14 yrs and 14 yrs in this enumeration district
- Ingeborg resident of the state for 24 yrs and 10 yrs in this enumeration district
- Nekoline not recorded - see next line

Clay Co Recorder's office - death index: Nekoline Mikkelson, 16 Jan 1886

Conclusion; Nekoline was born about 1872, mother Ingeborg; Nekoline died in 1886

4. Source: Obituary for Ingeborg, The Bellingham Herald, 27 April 1938

- lived in this county for 38 years - (therefore arrived in 1900)
- died at the home of her daughter, Mrs Hjalmer Larson, 3103 Orleans Street, Bellingham
- one yr illness
- note: funeral by Rev J Torval Norby at American Lutheran Church; internment at Laurence

5. 1900 US Census, Eglon Twp, Clay Co, MN, 5 June 1900: head of household - Lars Mikkelson

- Emma (daughter; married 15 years; 8 children, 6 living) Kildal, Jacob [age 14, farm labor], Nette, [age 11, at school], Hans [age 5], Ingerrann [age 3] - all children born in MN;
- Emma/Ingeborg - 8 children, 6 living; married for 15 years

+++ Hilimine or Hilmina (as recorded by Terril Hayes) is not listed, therefore, it is likely she died before 1900; Hilimine's death is not recorded on the MN Death Index --- dates of birth/death from Lou Larson, Feb 2011

+++ Hartvig - not indexed on Ancestry; not found on scan of Lake Park, Becker Co, MN [ 21 Mar 2012 ]

6. 1910 US Census, Ten Mile Precent, Whatcom Co, WA; Also: ancestry.com (viewed 24 Dec 2008)

- Hartvig and Ingeborg married for 27 years <1883>; 8 children, 5 living
- Hartvig - year of emigration - 1881

8. Whatcom Co Acreage Description Book, 1920-1921 & 1914-16 Platt of Sec 10 Twp 39 N, Range 3 E (Ten Mile Creek Twp); viewed at the WA State Regional Archives, University of Western Washington, Bellingham, WA [10 Sept 2008]

- has 46.5 acres at a value of $1378.00
- Sec 10, S half of SW of NE quarter (18.5 acres) + S half of the SE of NE quarter exlusive of 10 acres (about 30 acres) + Sec 10, NE corner of SE of NE quarter (about 1.5 acres). NOTE: the 1914-16 Platt shows much of this under H J Kildall; whereas Ingeborg had the N half of the SW of the NE quarter - assumed this had been sold by 1920

9. 1930 US Census, Bellingham, Whatcom Co, WA

- Ingeborg living with daughter, Nettie Larson

10. Residences for Ingeborg:

- Norway - birth
- Clay Co, MN - 1871 - with parents on farm
- Clay Co, MN - 1883- marriage - likely the "home" church - Solem Lutheran Church
- Lake Park, Becker Co, MN - 1885 & 1895 MN State Census
- Everson, Whatcom Co, WA - 1900 (obit indicates living in the county for 38 years)
- Ten Mile Precinct, Whatcom Co, WA - 1910 US Census
- Ten Mile Twp, Whatcom Co - 1920-1921 - Whatcom Co Acreage Book
- Bellingham, Whatcom Co - 1920 US Census - with Anna and David Larson; 1928 Bellingham City directory (fr ancestry.com, page 131) -- 3126 Orleans (wid Hartvig) -- this is the same house number of David and Anna Larson (p 137, 1928 Bellingham directory); 1930 US Census - with Nettie and Hjamler Larson at 3103 Orleans St; abt 1937-1938 [obit indicates a 1 year illness - she may have been living here prior to illness]

11. Hartvig - WA Death Records, 30 Sept 1911

- recorded as Hartwick J Kildall
- as at death as 67, <1844>
- parents - Michael Kildall and Dorthea Senson

the following is likely a different person for Hartvig -- there are some others in the Lynden area
-- WA State Census, 1889, has M Kildal <1831> at Whatcom Co (next line is Christina, age 38)
-- WA Death Records - Michael, 15 July 1924, age 93 <1931>; also see obit -- says he had a surviving son, John, living in Vancouver, BC
-- 1920 US Census - Michael, age 89; with Howard and Maria Lee - father in law; born in Norway; emigrated 1888

-- but no record of Hartvig in 1900 US or MN or WA State Census (nor for Michael) -- is it possible Hartvig and his father, Michael, went to Canada for a a few years???

13. Lou Larson
family info, Feb 2011

- Hartvig had some health problems and because of this the family moved to WA
- he was known as a teacher and Klokker at Solem Lutheran Church
- apparently some of the family in Minnesota considered him "lazy and not a good farmer" - "he wanted to be a teacher, preacher, and choir master"; this is one of the reasons he left MN for WA
- in WA, after the fall harvest, he took a boat down Pugent Sound to Tacoma and from there he went by horseback to Parkland College, now Pacific Lutheran University at Parkland, WA [ about 20 kms south of downtown Tacoma ] (the rest of the family stayed at the farm) [ likely he came back to the farm in the spring/early summer ]
- he was also known as a preacher and teacher at Lawrence, WA (see point 12 above)

Pacific Lutheran University -- today affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America
- from wikipeadia - established by Scandianvians in 1890 with first classes in 1894 with 30 students; change of name in 1898 to Pacfic Lutheran Academy and Business College; financial troubles (founder went for close to two years in Alaska searching for gold; in 1918 closed for 2 years because of the Norwegian Lutheran merger); in 1920 joined with Columbia College in Everett and and named Pacific Lutheran College
- land for sale -- see http://collections.washingtonhistory.org/emuwebwshs/objects/common/webmedia.php?irn=12690
- it appears that Parkland College was established earlier -- Rev Bjug Harstad was the first president, but later in the above article it notes that Bjug was president from 1884-1885 and 1887-1888 [ Nils Joseph Hong was president 1898-1918, the time that Hartvig was a teacher there ]
