Fort Sill, Oklahoma [ abt 150 kms southwest of Oklahoma City

The first class at the Field Artillery Officer Candidate School reported to Fort Sill on July 10, 1941, and was billeted in tents. OCS offered a 12 week course to warrant officers and enlisted men desiring to become second lieutenants in the Army of the United States. Captain Carl H. Jark was assigned as
the school's first commandant. The first class had 125 entering and 79 graduated on October 1, 1941.
The Field Artillery Officer Candidate School closed, when class number 179 graduated on December 12,
1946, after commissioning 26,209 second lieutenants.
