- given name of Helga and of Ellen are interchangeable in these records - the given name of Helga at times in other records [ie, births of children] and situations of other persons [that is, witness to another child] in the US becomes Ellen or Helen
- also: another example, Helga Andersdotter married to Michael Hendrikcson - 1870 US census fam 75 [image 11 on familysearch]; her name is recorded as "Ellen"
- additionally Jöns Jonsson/Johansson Modig - most of the US records have his given name - James and then surname, Moody


*** But I find the situation a bit confusing: Lekvattnet parish records records that Helga, and her children left for North America in 1872, but there is no record of this in the Lekvattnet "moving out records". The US Church records for Stockholm record she married "James Modig" in 1873 and the birth of their children was in 1873, 1875, 1876 and 1877 with another child born 1883. And according to Lekvattnet parish marriage records, she was married to Eric Jönsson (b 1834) on 20 Feb 1863 [Lek... EI:2, page 1, no 1]
Thus, these records seem to suggest that she was married to two different people at the same time?

However, the Lekvattnet parish household records volume AI:3, 1816-1865, page 223 (and also in volume AI:4, 1866-1875, page 186 and going forward) suggest they separated or divorced in 1864 since there are comments on the right side that suggest they were both fined [although I can't read the writing well and so my understanding it limited, it appears their marriage was scratched. This conclusion fits the situation]. He went to Faln in Norrland, and then later to Norway - he had died in 1900 at Järvsö parish in Gävelborg län]. Helga and the 2 younger children (Emil b 1864 and Maria b 1862) went to North Amercia where in Feb 1873 she married Jöns J Modig (also known in some of the US records as James Moody), the widower of her sister Britta Eriksdotter who had died in 1868. Thus Helga (often known as Ellen Moody in some of the US records)
