Summary:
Ingeborg Bakken was my 5th cousin, 3 times removed. See her father's page for an outline of my family relationship.
Ingeborg Mikkelsdatter Bakken was born in 1838. Ingeborg never married, but she had left Tolga parish for North America. I have not found a date of her emigration, other than the year 1881 that was recorded in 1900 US Census - the accuracy of this is questionable. However, she had obtained a homestead in West Antelope Twp, Benson County, North Dakota, with the patent issued at the end of Dec 1896. It appears that she had first come to this area as early as Jul 1888. I have not found an emigration record - she is not recorded in the Norway Parish registers, 'out-migration' for Tolga parish.
According to the US and ND census records, Ingeborg lived with her sister Dorthe Marie Bakken who usually went with the name Maria Bakke. Maria was married in Spring Grove MN to Hans Paulson in 1884. Ingeborg is recorded with her sister and her family through to the 1920 US Census. Ingeborg died on 1 Nov 1921 and is buried on the same plot as her sister Marie Paulson [married to Hans Paulson.
