** wife Tilda Maria Jacobsdotter b 11 Aug 1865, according to Ancestry.com FTs, but the place of birth is very confusing on the FTs - but the concensus seems to be that she was born at Kvänum parish in Skaraborg county: However, I could not locate her in the birth/baptism records for Kvänum parish - Arkivdigital notes that births for 1861-1879 for Kvänum parish are located in Edsvära parish, but she is NOT recorded with this date. I did her and her birth in the Kvänum parish Household Records (AI:12 on page 159 and AI:13 on page 167. The household records record her birth as 11 Aug 1865 and her parents as Jacob Bengtsson (b 5 Dec 1816 at Qvän=Kvänum) and Kerstin Johansdotter (b 11 Dec 1813 , Jung parish, Skaraborg. Kvänum, Skaraborg län (R) Household records AI:14 (1876-1885) Page 185, Badeneds (AID: v11022.b192.s185) - this also records that Thilda Maria (b 1865), along with her sister Emma Charlotts b 1863 both left for North America in 1883. Note this household record also records that Thilda Maria's older brothers, Johan Alfred (b 10 Oct 1856, Kvänum) and August (b 19 June 1859) had emigrated in 1882 - Brodin Ostlund FT has a link to Gothenburg passenger lists for Thilda Jacobson and sister Emma onboard the ship "Romeo" on 12 Oct 1883 with a designation of New York - the Gothenburg passenger lists for Alfred Jacobson, age 25 [b abt 1855] is for April 1880 bound for New York (a number of people from Skaraborg including John Jacobson age 57

It appears that he was traveling on his own (he was about 19 years old). It is likely that he first went to his father's farm in Rocky Mountain Twp, Eddy Co, North Dakota.
