Matts Michelsson

2. NOT proven, but LIKELY.

a. It is likely that our Michel Michelsson (1672-1724) had a brother named Matts Michelsson. Matts Michelsson likely had a daughter, Karin, born 24 Jul 1691 [C1, page 64 side 2, third from top; farm Kårböleskog; I have not found a death record for this person, nor I have found a spouse for Matts Michelsson]. This birth record, however, records this Karin Mattsdotter (b 1691) parents as Matts Michelsson and Karin Grelsdotter ??; records says, Matts Michelsson barn on Kårböleskog, Karin, modr Karin Grelsdotter ?? at first I was thinking that the efternamn was Halvardsdotter, but reviewing closely, it is NOT Halvardsdotter since this would require more letters
Grelsdotter, may not be right, but the record for the first part of the name (minus dotter) has 5 letters, maybe six;;
using the webiste 'tydatext.se' [läshjäp for släktforskare], the first 2 letters are "Gr' and then the next letter is "é" doesn't record the accent so if you subsitute the accent with just the letter 'e' and the next two letters are 'ls' and so you end up with "Grels". Although, Grels is not a commom name in this area; it is as nordic name used in Sweden, Finland and Norway, and is related to 'Gregor' or 'Gregory'

b.
*** witness - Margareta Michelsdotter from Kårböleskog for Karin Matsdotter, born 1691; and her parents Mats Michelsson and Karin Grelsdotter ;;; C:1, page 64 -- sister to Mats Michelsson ??

*** this Karin (b 1691) may have died bet 1691 and 1694, since we have another person named Karin Mattsdotter born 1694 on Kårböleskog and married to Per Michelsson b 1682 in Los; ----- This Karin Mattsdotter b 1694 was born on Kårböleskog and married to Per Michelsson in Los, does not record Karin's parents.

d. re; son, Lars Nyberg, b 1699. In reviewing the burial/testament record (HVIa:2, page 162 no 28) Lars' parents are recorded as Matts Michelsson on Kårböleskog and wife Margta Larsdotter [her burial, HVIa:2, page 365, notes she was about age 31 <1691> when she married Mats Michelsson at Kårböleskog ]

SO, I think: that Mats Michelsson was first first married to Karin Grelsdotter and that she died at child birth or shortly thereafter. Mats Michelsson then married for a second time Margta Larsdotter later in 1691 or early 1692. Mats Michelsson and Karin Grelsdotter's child, Karin Mattsdotter (b 1691) may have also died at childbirth or may have lived for awhile, but would have died before 1694, the birth of the second Karin Mattsdotter

It is possible Matts Michelsson was born about 1663 - this is a date recorded on a the Family Search tree; however, the accuracy of this tree is low, although some facts can be verified. For example this tree (familysearch ID # LZS9-TH6) does record the birth the daughter, Karin as I noted in the second sentence above. This tree links to brother Michel born 1672, but the tree has a wrong death date for this Michel. So, ..... ??? BUT I have included Matts Michelsson on my data but with a marginal confidence level....





3. The Kårböleskog taxation records, records that for 1696 and 1697 the taxable person was Mats Michelsson, and then in the year 1698, the taxable person was Michel Michelsson (born 1672) . Thus it is likely (but not proven) that Matts Michelsson died in 1698, although this would not be correct, re; son Lars Nyberg b 1699, see below and notes on Lars Nyberg who was born on Kårböleskog
so his death would have to be after 1699

4. Matts Michelsson had a son who was Sold. Lars Nyberg, born 1699 and died 19 Oct 1742 [F:1, p. 79; HVIa:2, p. 162 2nd side
- looks like he was married 1726

According Torbjörn Näs post on Anbytarforum 2002, Matts Michelsson was born 1662 and was a Soldtat on Kårböleskog ⁸¹⁴⁹

  Noted events in his life were:

1. Birth/Death - uncertain, 1663-1698, Färila, Gävleborg län, Sweden. As I have indicated in the research notes, Matts birth and death is uncertain (his birth year is noted from a familysearch family tree with marginal evidence).

Matts' death is based on the Kårböleskog taxation records, records that for 1696 and 1697 the taxable person was Mats Michelsson, and then in the year 1698, the taxable

Matts married Margeta Larsdotter. (Margeta Larsdotter was born in 1660 in Ytterhogdal, Jämtland län, Sweden ⁸¹⁵⁰ and died on 19 Nov 1750 in Färila, Gävleborg län, Sweden ⁸¹⁵⁰.)
