bullet  Research Notes:

1. Residence [ written, 23 Dec 2018]

Måns Jönsson's death record records that he (and his family) came to Rullbo (then a part of Ytterhogdal parish) in 1769. Where was he living prior to 1769?

On DISBYT family databases, both Stefan Simander (id 1548; update, 26 Sep 2008) and Karl-Erik Gustavsson (id 8473; updated 29 Feb 2016) record his marriage in 1763 at Sveg parish and that their daughter Kerstin Månsdotter was born in 1764 at Ytterhogdal parish. However, the Ytterhogdal parish records from 1785 -1813 do not record her birth parish. Måns Jönsson's wife, Kerstin Jönsdotter was born in Överhogdal parish in 1730, but there are no household records in Överhogal prior to 1808 and no surviving records for Sveg parish (although there is a partial record for the years 1791-1806 with the next volume starting in 1860.

Stefan Simander notes that Måns Jönsson was living in Älvros parish in 1751. However, the earliest volume of household records at Älvros is 1829 and thus, there is no way to collaborate this.

Conclusion: Måns Jönsson was born at the farm Vallen (Bynallen) in Sveg parish in 1728. He moved to the farm Rullbo (then part of Ytterhogdal parish, later a part of Los parish) in 1769 and lived there until he died in 1816. No other family researchers have noted other residences.

Where did he live from about the time of the death of his father in 1743 to the time he moved to Rullbo in 1769, a span of about 26 years? At this point, it is not possible to determine.

2. Did Måns Jönsson have other children? I have only been able to determine one daughter, Kerstin Månsdotter (b 1764). It is likely he had other children, but at this point, it is not possible to determine (there are no surviving parish records since they likely were stored in Sveg (even though there was a time that there was a combined adminstrative parish of Sveg, Lillhärdal, and Älvros, and for awhile Linsell, but none have records for the above time fram.

3. Ytterhogdal parish, deaths C:3, page 397, no 4 ; place of death Rullbo [ 16 Feb 2018 ]

The death records provides a lot of information. It records Måns Jönsson's birth on 12 Jan 1728 and it notes his birth was in Sveg och Vallen. This usually would mean the parish, but I can't find such a parish (through google search or from familysearh)*. There is a parish named Sveg, but the records from the Sveg parish were lost in a fire some time in the 1860's. The above death record also records Måns Jönsson's parents who were Jöns Halvarsson (Bonden - farmer; and Riksdagen ?, maybe means part of Swedish Parliament ?? ] and Kjerstin Halvarsdotter [ baptised ...?]. Måns Jönsson was married in 1763 to Kjerstin Jonsdotter from Överhogdal parish (this might be a part of Ytterhogdal parish, although in later years they are separate (Hogdal ???); but their marriage is not recorded in the Ytterhogdal or Överhogdal parish parish records. This also notes that Måns Jönsson and his family came to Rullbo in 1769. The records notes that he died of old age, at the age of 88½ years.

I have looked at Överhogdal parish - there is a volume for marriages to include 1763, but look through the pages (hard to read handwriting and seemingly unorganized record) I can't find any marriages for 1763. I also can't find a birth record in 1728 for Måns Jönsson.

*Arkivdigital does not list a separate "Sveg och Vallen". The priest may be referring to a "farm or village of Vallen within Sveg". I am not sure where Vallen is. In 2018, there are some streets that contain Vallen. There also is a place/community called "Byvallen" which is across the Ljusnan River from the town of Sveg, and about 2 kms further east following highway 'E45' [source, Kartsök och ortnamn - kso.etjanster.lantmateriet.se]. This is likely the place name mention in some family researchers database and would fit with the one partial Church household record for Sveg Parish [Sveg (W, Z) AI:1 (1791-1806) Image 720 / Page 109; Byn, gård]

BUT his tree connects to "our" Anders Jonsson (1787-1818) and son Jon Andersson (b 1819) -- no date of death; likely Karl-Erik Gustavsson's family decends from a brother to our Jon Andersson (b 1819), Magnus Andersson b1835)

- this FT, says that Jöns Halvarsson (b 1690) was married twice. His first wife was Kerstin Halvarsdotter or possibly Svensdotter and that she is the mother to Halvar Jönsson b 1718. His second wife was Kirsten Jönsdotter born 2 Mar 1730, and that she was the mother of Måns Jönsson. Thus, Måns Jönssson and Halvar Jönsson were half-brothers: BUT this is not supported by Måns Jönsson's death record - see point 1

bullet  Noted events in his life were:

1. Residence, 1769-1816, 1769-1816, Ytterhogdal, Jämtland län, Sweden. 8005 Farm: Rullbo. Måns Jönsson's death record (Ytterhogdal, C:3 page 397 no 4) records that he and his wife/family came to Rullbo in 1769. The earliest household records (AI:2, 1785-1793, page 56) records Måns, his wife, and daughter and son-in-law at the farm Rullbo. Subsequent household records show he continued to live at Rullbo until his death in 1816 (AI:3, p 78; AI:4, p 91; AI:5, p 99); his wife died in 1816.

However, it is not clear where Måns lived prior to 1769. His death record says that his wife, Kerstin Jönsdotter was from Overhogdal parish, but the earliest household record for Overhogdal parish is 1808

2. Death - 1816, 1816, Ytterhogdal, Jämtland län, Sweden. 8002 Location: Rullbo (see research notes).

Måns married Kerstin Jönsdotter, daughter of Jöns Pålsson and Kerstin Jönsdotter, in 1763 in Ytterhogdal, Jämtland län, Sweden.8002 (Kerstin Jönsdotter was born on 26 Sep 1730 in Överhogdal, Jämtland, Sweden 8006,8007 and died on 11 Oct 1818 in Ytterhogdal, Jämtland län, Sweden 8006.)

bullet  Noted events in their marriage were:

1. Marriage, 1763, 1763, Jämtland län, Sweden. Måns Jönsson (b 1728) and Kerstin Jönsdotter (b 1730) place of marriage is uncertain. Most likely they were married in Sveg parish where Måns was born. However, their marriage in Sveg cannot be confirmed since prior to 1860, the Sveg parish records were destroyed. Although Kerstin was born in Överhogdal parish, their marriage is not recorded in the marriage book (C:1) for Överhogdal. This is the same case in the Ytterhogdal parish marriage book (C:2, 1722-1764). It should be noted the distances between these parishes is not very great.
