4. John Mason's history of Otter Tail Co, 1916
- attended Fergus Falls High School and Park Regional Lutheran College at Fergus Falls where he graduated from the commercial department in 1894 - after 1894 he taught school in Otter Tail Co for 5-6 years - after his marriage (about 1899 as indicated in 1900 US Census), he went to the homestead where he has lived since - "Mr. and Mrs. Olson are members of the Lutheran Church..." - married to Hannah Holbeck, daughter of P N Holbeck; However, under the article for P (Peter) Holbeck, Hannah is not noted as daughter; However, the 1885 and 1895 MN Census both list Hannah under Peter or Peder and Ingeborg Holbeck (along with the other siblings, such as Ella, Emil, etc)
++ this source does not indicate that Hannah died in 1902 (tombstone) or that Carl had remarried [1910 US Census indicates he is a widow], so it is possible that "Mr and Mrs Olson" refers to a second marriage, about 1919 -- 1920 at Underwood, Sverdrup Twp) and 1930 US Census (Tordenskjold Twp) - Olga J, with one child in the 1920 and 3 children listed in the 1930
