  Research Notes:

Note: John Johnsen Moen [1854 -1917] was a 6th cousin to my grandfather, Lars Thoreson Grue [1887-1958]. They would have been considered the same generation, although there was a 33 year age difference. I don't think that grandpa knew John Johnsen Moen, even though John had homesteaded in the Westrose area west of Wetaskwin. I also don't remember my dad ever talking about John J Moen's children and their families.

- but an added comment: Sjøl-Jo var også en dyktig finsmed = he was also a skilled blacksmith.

daughter: Ingeborg Sophie, b 24 Apr 1873, died 26 May 1966; married 3 Jul 1892 to John Johnsen Midtdal (Måg Jo), b 21 Jan 1872 and died 10 Oct 1931. Family emigrated to Alberta, Canada in Mar 1905.

- Daughter Olava (father was Jakob Pedersen from Høsen on Nøren, died in 1878; mother was Johanna Nilsdatter, died 1901), was married to John J Moen from Tufsingdalen. When he was 60 years old, he sold his farm to church singer (kirkesanager) M. Holøien and traveled to America. [ note that "he" refers to John Johnsen Moen, "senior", born in 1822 and died in 1912 in Alberta; Olava married John J Moen (1854-1917) who was the son of John J Moen (1822-1912) ].
- another daughter, Johanna was married to Oliver I Rostbakken. [ a nephew of our Olava Røstbakken, married to Simen T Grue ]
- another son Nils J Langsjoen was born in 1828; his wife was Karoline Johnsdatter Sømaahaug (born in 1824). They had 7 children - Jakob, John, Nils, Johannes, Kornelius, Peder and Johanna. Nils and Johanna died and all the rest have gone to America [ Johannes Langsjoen lived in the Silvana area of Snohomish Co, WA ]

- Elaine and Tom McWaters Family Tree ' owner 0822em' with last login in Marchc 2012 - not sourced BUT also has a number of mistakes (ie, John Johnsen Midtdal married to Ingeborg Sofie Moen); has some descendant information on children of John Johnsen Midtdal and Olava - their children and records Melvin, married, with 4 childrens, two 'private', Arthur died in 3 May 1983, no location recorded (born 19 Aug 1920) and Clarence died on 22 Dec 1981, no location (born 5 May 1925) married to 'private' with one child 'private' and the other, Lance Midtdal, born 14 July 1950 and died 15 Apr 1984 in Vancouver, BC, married to 'private', but no children recorded
