The following story is the Ostby family tree. It was copied from a document prepared by cousins in the late 1960's or early 1970's. It is obviously a synopsis of the tax records, court proceedings, and census records of that area of Norway from which the Ostby's originate.

Ole Gjermundsen Hammersgard was married twice; (1) to Gertrude Persdatter, and through this marriage is our relationship with the Skarets); (2) second wife was Gullaug Jensdatter (from Nordby west), and through this marriage is our relationship with Børre Børresen (born 1837) and his granddaughter, Ragnhild Johansdotter (born 1897)

3. One of his sons was Otter Olsen Hammersgard (Skaaret), born 1705. Another son was Gjermund Olsen and whose descendants were on Hammersgaarden (Gjermundshaugen)


4. According to the www.geni.com data; re, a sub-data group, Ola Gjermundsen Hammersgard (1679-1756) descendants

Ole Gjermundsen Hammersgard and Gertrud Persdatter (his first wife), had at least 2, but maybe 3 children ** there must be an error in the 'geni.com' data, since it records Gertrud Persdatter's death as 1707, and but then records her the mother of another 5 children

Ole Gjermundsen Hammersgard and Gullaug Jensdotter (his 2nd wife) had 16 children ?, with the youngest child born in 1722

Ole married Gjertrud Persdatter in Trysil, Hedmark, Norway.⁶⁹⁰⁶ (Gjertrud Persdatter was born about 1680 in Trysil, Hedmark, Norway ⁶⁹⁰⁶ and died about 1707 in Trysil, Hedmark, Norway ⁶⁹⁰⁶.)

Ole next married Gullaug Jensdatter Nordby. (Gullaug Jensdatter Nordby was born in 1685 in Trysil, Hedmark, Norway ⁶⁹³⁵.)
