I just read (with great interest) much of your family history that involved last name Egge in Jackson County, Minnesota. I came across it while reading about the Indian uprising(s) in the general area.
I learned a few things and have some additional info to offer.
My grandmother's sister was Martha Niemann Egge (born approx 1880 in Wisconsin and later married John Egge of Christiana Township). My mother and her siblings grew up with and were very close to the Egge family (her first cousins, some of whom I met multiple times during my younger years.) My mother (1901) is Meta Lois Soehren Olson; her mother was Emma Niemann Soehren, whose family moved to a farm in Christiana Township in approx mid 1880s, a few years before she was born. Her sister Martha Egge was 10 years older, but they were very close.
Maxine Egge Clinger [I have her recorded as a daughter of John Johnson Egge, Jr and Martha with her name as Maxine Lynaha Egge, b 1922] and her husband Ray actually had four children: Meta (now spelled Maida) Sue Clinger Ralston [Mira corrected this to Sue Clinger's surname as Rolston, not Ralston] (as far as I know, she still lives in Northern California, possibly Davis area...I believe her husband was a department head at UC Davis; John Clinger (I believe he is a writer and still living in St. Paul, Minnesota); Frank Clinger (deceased, two daughters in Las Vegas, Nevada); Margaret (Maggie) Clinger (deceased, childhood cancer). Maxine, Ray, Frank and Maggie moved from Bakersfield, California, back to the family farm in Christiana Township, Jackson County, Minnesota, in late 1960s or early 1970s. I was in the house there only once but am so glad I had the opportunity. Maida and John would be in their 70s now.
Ethel Egge Beer and "Pearl"* remained married and did not divorce ***. Elma Egge never married.
I heard a story that Maxine's paternal grandmother** had escaped carrying her young twins along the river bottom, trying to hide and keep them quiet as she tried to escape the Indians. I didn't realize that she wasn't an Egge at the time. I heard this from my grandmother and/or possibly Frank Clinger. It was interesting to read the name Henry Knutsen since I heard that name so many times from my grandmother. They were neighbors, I believe, but I never knew there was another connection.
To the best of my recollection, one of Maxine's siblings may have ended up in Texas. But this is all probably a bit far afield from your research.
Good luck with your fascinating and very indepth work. What a treasure you are putting together.

There is a birth record on Wisconsin pre 1907 index - born Niemann, unnamed female born 11 Feb 1879 in Door Co [north of Green Bay] ... maybe the same person ?? - parents are not recorded in the index
death in California - Butte Co - she is also recorded living in Chico, Butte from 1950-1960 (Ancestry.com US Cities Dir)
Noted events in her life were:
1. Birth uncertainty - 1878 or 1879, 1878 or 1879, Door Co, Wisconsin, United States. 6258 Martha's birth is somewhat uncertain. The 1900 US Census records her birth as Feb 1879; although there are often errors in the US Census records, it is likely this record in the 1900 Census record is correct due to the requirement and the likely care taken to record the month and the year as well as the age of each person.
An Illustrated History of Jackson Co, MN records her birth as 11 Feb 1878 which is quite possibly an error in recording or typesetting. This record also notes that Martha married John Egge. It also notes that her parents first settled in Door Co, WI (just north of Green Bay, WI on the Door Peninsula) and moved to Jackson Co, MN in 1887.
2. Residence 1950-1960, 1950-1960, Chico, Butte Co, California, United States. 6297 Ancestry's US Cities Directories index record her living in Chico from 1950-1960, most likely living with her duaghter, Elma. Although there is no direct evidence, it is likely she had moved to Butte Co, CA shortly after the death of her husband (John who died in 1947).
3. Death 1962, 1 Dec 1962, Chico, Butte Co, California, United States. 6268 No obiturary has been located.
Martha married John Johnson Egge Jr, son of John Johnson Egge and Ingeborg Evensdatter Søndmør, on 21 Dec 1899 in Jackson Co, Minnesota, United States 6248,6257.,6258 (John Johnson Egge Jr was born on 14 May 1872 in Christiania Twp, Jackson Co, Minnesota, United States 6247 and died on 8 Jul 1947 in Rochester, Olmsted Co, Minnesota, United States 6259,6260.)
