The date that the family left Idre parish, Sweden is 22 Jun 1882. However, on the emigrants from Throndhiem database, the family is registered as 9 Mar 1882. It is most likely that they left Idre parish sometime in Feb and traveled to Throndiem where they were able to board early in Mar 1882

- 125 friends and quests gathered at the Norwegian Church on Thursday, 16 Jun 1932, to celebrate the 50th Wedding Anniversary; the same day 50 years ago that they were married [16 Jun 1882]
- the couple are both 80 years old
- their living children, 6 boys - Jake, John, Laurence, Theander, and Nels all from Loverna, and Martin from Wiseton [about 50 kms southeast of Rosetown] and one daughter, Mrs C. J. Johnson from Betalock [SK; likely only a km or two south of Elias; local community/school area], 5 grandchildrn and one great grandchild. A foster daughter, Mrs Leonard Martin of Loverna was unable to attend.
- four children, one son and 3 daughters are predeceased
- Mr Sonmor was born in Norway 25 Aug 1851 and Mrs Sonmor on 19 Mar 1852
- came to America in 1882, settling in North Dakota
- in 1895 moved to Minnesota and then 13 years later came to Hanley, SK [close to 50 kms east and north of Outlook] and from there moved to Ardath and took up a homestead **
- they still live alone on the farm and carry on with their chores. Mr Sonmor milks 3 cows and a garden to care for. Mrs Sonmor nees no assistance with household and "often rises at three in the morning when she has special tasks to perform" [?] ... Both are in good health 1935-

Note: SK has a number of smaller newspapers, some as early as 1884 and the latest in 1940. However, there is no "character recognition" and so you cannot search by a person's name. You can only search for the town/city, newspaper and then date - then review page by page. So, the only real help is to know the location/town and the actual date (for example, date of death) and then review pages to find the person.

- on Ancestry, there is a collection for western land grants, "Homestead Grant Registers", and using the land description [sec 28, twp 30, range 8, W3rd], the page records the name, Walter Boswell with a date of application as 25 Jun 1904 [image 82], and then on the next image it records that this application was Cancelled [ noted with a red stamp], but no date is recorded for the cancellation
... on the SK archives link above, the file has recorded "Sonmor, Elias Jacobson" twice, and Boswell, W.
So, what I think is that Walter Boswell had first made application/entry on this land, but at somepoint he cancelled .... and then
Elias J Sonmor took the land, met homestead requirements, and applied for and granted a patent. ....
[note that in AB homesteads, sometimes the first person who took entry is noted, then cancelled, then someone's entry is noted in the same file] .... and so Elias J Sonmor took this homestead around 1908

- son, Theander E Sonmor had made an application for homestead SE¼, Sec 36, Twp 26, Range 11;
file # 2293237 ;; at images 924-928, Theander had made application in 18 Nov 1910, but in Nov 1911, he signed a form that is "abandoning" the homestead - "too hilly and too stoney"; his address is noted as Outlook ..
