KARL'S HOUSE WAS ABOUT SEVEN MILES NORTH OF ARTHUR'S AND HAD NO ELECTRIC POWER. HE ALSO HAD A BAD SAND FLY PROBLEM. THEY HAD A HAND PUMP AT THE KITCHEN SINK. HE HAD A EARLY TYPE BATTERY MADE WITH THE PLATES IN A FIVE GALLON GLASS CONTAINER, AND THIS ALLOWED HIM TO HAVE A RADIO. I BELIEVE IT WAS CHARGED BY A SMALL GENERATOR ON A WIND MILL. 4557
