Sadie Priscilla Mattson
- Born: Dec 1893 3625,3667
- Died: Dec 1983, Seattle, King Co, Washingon, United States at age 90 3726
Research Notes:
1. Birth location -- Clapp Family Tree (ancestry) says MN -- but not on MN Birth Index, www.mnhs.org; parents marriage record is in Port Townsend, 1891
2. 17 Dec 1983, Seattle Times, death notice -- Sadie P Mattson NOT FULLY CONFIRMED, but most likely accurate - provides little information - "Aunt of Steve Mattson, Tanasket [ Okanogan, Co - abt 50 kms south of Osoyoos, BC ]; Marcie Franklin, Tampa, FL. Services, Monday, 10 A.M., Yarrington's White Center Funeral Home" --- see Steven Charles Mattson
++ note: Clapp Family Tree says she died in 1985 == it's probable that that is an error (since I have found other errors in this database +++BUT of course, this doesn't mean that this entry is wrong
++++ [ 20 May 2011 ] - not seen on scan of "vital stats - deaths" notice in the Seattle Times Dec 15-31, 1983 - if she lived with or near her nephew Steven in Tonasket (the July 1982 article, below), then it is possible that no notice was posted in the Seattle Times - google of Steve Mattson - my life website: Steven C Mattson, age 76 (also Leah Mattson, age 76) at Tonasket, WA; also there is Mattson and Associates INC (Accountants), he is a member of Tonasket Chamber of Commerce, Washington Secretary of State "corporations" with office address as 31556 HIGHWAY 97, PO Box 1015, Tonasket, WA 98855; Steven is listed as President, La Raeh Mattson as Treasurer; incorportate 20 Dec 1985 -- there is a line that says expirary in 2010 with "Disolution" 25 Mar 2011 ( http://mobile.www.secstate.wa.gov/corps/search_detail.aspx?ubi=601120337) --- he is also listed on the WA Secretary of State as the Secretary for the Pinecrest Subdivision Owners Association (non profit), address as 31993 Hwy 97, P O Box 1026, 98855
- Okanogan County Historical Society - Okanogan WA (south of Omak; abt 75 south of Osoyoos) notes that they have microfilm of local newspapers --- hours 8-Noon, M-F; http://okanoganhistory.org/ochs_home - Omak-Okanogan County Cronicle newspaper has obits on line since 2005 -- no Steven C Mattson listed
3. numerous mentions of Sadie Mattson (abt 50, with most in the late 1950's and the 1960's) Seattle Times -- there are a number of articles that mention Sadie Mattson - artist/painter - 1 July 1982, p C6 [p 29], col 3 "...Washington state has 11 members [ AWS - American Watercolor Society ] ... Sadie Mattson, Tonasket..." - 6 March 1976, p D2 [p50], col 5, "Gallery Guide", Frye Museum, Terry at Cherry. Paintings by Sadie Mattson (to March 17) - 27 March 1968, p 32 -- member of the executive of the Northwest Watercolor Society - 31 May 1964, [p80] -- photo of Mr. Perry Archer and Miss. Sadie Mattson, ... re; bringing paintings to craft show --- saved - 20 Dec 1964, p 40 -- paintings at Auto Show, ...."paintings by Miss [Sadie] Mattson have been exhibited at the Seattle Art Museum, Frye Museum, and other galleries" - 15 Apr 1968, p 50 [52], col 8 -- "Seattle Painter Elected" Sadie Mattson, Seattle painter, has been elected to active membership in the American Watercolor Society, the oldest and largest organization of watercolor artists in the United States - 28 Oct 1959, p21 - "State Art-Exhibit Winners Announced" -- photo of Miss Sadie Mattson displaying two winning paintings
++ it is quite probable that Sadie P Mattson was an artist/painter -- the 1 July 1982 article says she is from Tonasket -- death notice says that her nephew lives at Tanasket
[ 19 May 2011 ] - 19 Nov 1939 --- Marriage Licences - Calvin Courtney, legal, Seatte; Sadie Mattson, legal, 715 7th Ave +++ the King Co Marriage records Sadie E Mattson === thus, a different person - 11 May 1927 ---- Marriage LicensesFrank Lustig, 23, and Sadie Mattson, 20, both of Aberdeen == this is in Grays Harbor County == could be possible, but unlikely 3673
