- "My parents recall that she did want to see me [Allen B Anderson], they came to visit our home and being unable to get out of the care, I was taken to the care and held me for a moment. I understand she too was a very kindly women."

- passed away Saturday at her home in Seattle, following a lingering illness
- born in Trysil 29 Sept 1869; died at age 62; funeral Tues at 2:30 from Hamliton and Company's funeral parlors
- came with her family to to Port Townsend in 1888 and lived here until 1919 when they moved to Seattle.
- "She had been an invalid for a number of years and had been fallying more rapidly during the last year".
- she is survived by a son and daughter, Sadie and Norman Mattson, both of Seattle; by sisters and brothers, Mrs A J Anderson and Henry Norby of Seattle, Rev J T Norby of Bellingham; and Mrs P G Clements, Mrs C H Olberg and Peter Norby of Port Townsend

Charles Mattson, Port Townsend Leader, 19 Aug 1919
- died Monday in Seattle where he went some time ago for treatment
- he recently had a stroke "of paralysis" from which he recovered, and was taken to Seattle for treatment
- Sunday he had a second stroke, proving fatal
- during the past few years she operated a restuarant on Water Street, near the corner of Tyler
- survived by his wife, daughter, Sadie and a son, Norman of this city [ Port Townsend ?], and three brothers in the East [?] and a sister living in California and another sister Mrs Eric Smith of this city
- funeral will be held in Seattle today with internment in Lakeview cemetery.
