Anna Bergseth

  Research Notes:

Anna Bergseth was my 6th cousin, 3 times removed. My relationship to her is on the Skaret side of my family. Her ancestors can be traced back 8 generations to my 8th Great-grandfather, Gjermund Halvorsen Hammersgaard, born 1634 and died in 1715, Trysil parish, Hedmark, Norway. Gjermund had been married twice, but his wife's names are not known. From his 2nd marriage, he had a son Gjermundsen Gjermundsen Hammersgard, 1682-1752. Gjermund was a brother to my 7th great- grandfather, Ole Gjermunsden Hammersgard, 1679-1756 and Gjermund was an uncle to my 6th great-grandfather, Otter Olsen Skaaret, 1705-1768.

Anna Bergseth was born on 6 Sep 1876 at Ytre-Rendal parish in Hedmark, Norway. She was born at the farm Lia in Ytre-Rendal, but this area would later come under the boundaries of Engerdal Parish, Hedmark. Note that Anna had a twin brother, Lars Bergseth.

Anna's parents were Ingeborg Larsdatter b 7 Sep 1851 and Semming Semmingsen Bergseth b in 1846 in Øver Rendal parish in Hedmark Co, Norway.

The first record in the US that I found of Anna and her parents is the 1895 MN State Census. The family is living in Elmore Twp, Faribault Co, MN. Semming is recorded as living in the State for 6 years and this jurisdiction for 6 years - this collaborates that the family emigrated in 1889. Some of the family members are also recorded in the Shiloh or Silo Lutheran Chruch records for Elmore Twp in Faribault.

On 24 Aug 1896, Anna was married to Edwin Price Rorman in Faribault Co, MN. In the 1900, 1910 and 1920 US Census, the family is recorded living in Faribault Co [except in 1900 - Blue Earth Co]. In 1920 Census Edwin is working as a farmer.

In 1922, Edwin and Anna with 8 children moved to the area known as Robla in North Sacramento. Anna and Edwin had 9 children, but one son died in MN at the age of 10 months.

Edwin died on 24 Mar 1944 at Sacramento Co, CA. Anna died I Nove 1950 at Sacramento, CA
