- Milton Movold is recorded from 1938-1948 and then both he and Mrs Theresa Movold are recorded from 1950-1964

== possible that Milton was married between 1948-1950?

= 1938 CA Voter Registration - Kerns Co, CA -- Mrs Leona B Movold ???

+++ NOTE: 4. a. (i) 4 Jun 2017

Snip from "The San Bernardino County Sun", 7 Jul 1936, page 19. col 1.

" Marriage Licences: Movold-Thompson, Milton C Movold, 34, Minnesota, resident of Red Mountain and Leona Thompson, 23, California, resident of Randsburg"; [assumed that '34' means age, thus Milton born abt 1902, and assumed that 'Minnesota' is place of Birth; Leona age 23, birth abt 1913 in CA];

- I have looked/reviewed briefly a few issues of the above newspaper, but I didn't any other mention. HOWEVER, taking the two 'facts', that is, marriage licence and the 1938 CA Voter Registration record, I have concluded that Milton was married twice, first to Leona Thompson in Jul 1936 and then between 1948-1950 to Theresa Linser.

Milton and Leona were likely divorced sometime between 1938 and 1940. Milton is indexed as 'single' in the 1940 Census, it could just as be a 'divorce'. With a general name search of 'Leona Movold' at "newspapers.com" there is a notice in the Nevada State Journal (10 Aug 1940, page 7 col 2), "William R Mowlds of Trona, Calif., and Leona Movold of Randsburg, Calif., were married Justice of the Peace Walter Bower Saturday. Attending the young couple were Mrs. Eunice O'Byrant of Silver Peak, sister of the bride, and W. A. Mowlds, father of the bridegroom."
- thus, Leona Movold (nee Thompson?), remarried in 1940 in Tonopah, NV, according to the above record (the above paragraph is part of a larger article titled, "Personal News, Social Happenings of Tonopah, Nye Areas Listed". I can't find Leona in the 1940 US Census in Califorina or Nevada (Eunice O'Bryant, her sister is recorded at Silver Peak or Silverpeak, NV age 32 born in Utah; Leona seems to be born in CA). William R Mowlds is also found in the 1940 census in Inyo Co, Ca, age 33 born in WA, a Miner. His father William A Mowlds is found at Trona and I also found that family in the 1910 US Census Adams Co, WA where William A and son William age 3 <1907> are recorded. William A Mowlds died in 1956 (findagrave) and there is a CA death record for William R Mowlds who died in 13 Dec 1982 at San Mateo, California, with birth as 29 Mar 1907 in WA. I can't find anything else on Leona, Movold, Thompson or Mawlds.

- Note that Tonopah is about 65 kms north east of Silver Peak, NV. Silver Peak, NV is about 300 kms east of Trona, CA. Trona, CA is about 60 kms north of Red Mountain, CA. Inyo Co, CA is about 120 kms north of Trona, CA.

[Randsburg, Johannesburg, and Red Mountain our mostly ghost towns and all are within 5 - 10 kms of each other, see http://www.ghosttowns.com/states/ca/redmountain.html ]

4. b. 1930 US Census [ 4 July 2012 ] ancestry.com not indexed; used Morse 1930 ED finder

- using the addresses from the CA Voter Registration, Los Angeles -- not found
- 1928-1930 - 2467 Hidalgo Av - ED 638, - no; 1932 - 427 South Grand View - ED 432, - no;
1934 - 941 South Lake - ED 353, - no
- therefore, it seems that they moved a fair amount and that the voter registration was not up to date with the moves and thus nothing on the 1930 Census (enumeration in Apr 1930) OR when the enumerator came, Milton was not at home and he did not get back to the enumerator

++ Milton is not indexed on Ancestry.com in 1930 US Census in California, Los Angeles or San Bernardino or Kerns County, nor could I find him by using only is birthdate, first name, born in MN, Miner, Mining [ 18 Jul 2012 ]

4. b. 1940 US Census, Red Mountain, San Bernardino Co, CA

- Milton Clarence Movold (indexed as Novold; the letter does look like an N rather than M), age 38 born in MN, single (indexed as single, but the letter appears to be a combination of 'S' and 'D' - it doesn't look like the other letters 'S or D', 2 yrs of high school; worked 48 hours wk of Mar 24; worked 26 wks in 1939 earning $800; usual work is a Miner, Mining Leaser; recorded as owning home (no street address given) but no value recorded
- notes he is single
- on 1 Apr 1935, records residence as R (rural), San Bernardino Co; but no people are recorded as "same place or same house", either rural or the name of city, such as San Bernardino

Located in Johannesburg, just over the hill from infamous Randsburg, the Rand District Cemetery served those two desert mining towns as well as a few others in the area. About 40 miles from the city of Mojave, in the Mojave Desert, conditions here can be harsh, especially in the summer

6. US Social Security Index indicates last residence as Red Mountain, San Bernardino, CA (same as death location for wife); last benefit to Alexandria, Douglas Co, MN - why??? ---- brother Clifford lived and worked in Alexandria; likely Clifford was Milton's only relative, since it appears Milton did not have children
