until 1908 when he retired and moved to South Haven
- he had served in the Civil War as a bugler in Company I of the 2nd Pennsylvania clavary
- leaves is wife and one daughter, Bernice

NOTE: Census information indicates he was born in Ohio, as does the findagrave post
- but there are a number of FTs on ancestry that all record his birth in Crawford Co, Pennsylvania
a couple of the FTs are private, and some others have limited or no information on his marriage to Caroline Strand
