He was the first known user (tenant) at Gammelstu Østgård in Dalsbygda, Os. He was also the first to use the peculiar name for the sun that is only known in this family. In the moon ridge at Gammelstu, three years are carved, 1663, 1736 and 1861. The first year is probably from the time the building was erected and is the oldest in Dalsbygda.
