Summary: Per Pålsson, b 1834, was known as Peter Paulson in the US. His father was Pål Henriksson (b 1793) from Rattsjöberg - see his research notes. Pål Hendriksson decends from the Finnish Family Name of "Porkka" and from some of the earliest settlers at Rattsjöberg. [Sep 2020]

Per Pålsson's had a brother, Hinrik Pålsson b 1825 who was known in the US as Henrik Paulson. He was the oldest son of Pål Henriksson (b 1793) and he was the first of this family to emigrate to the US (in Apr 1865) and lived in the Cokota MN area. Two daughters of his uncle (Matts Hindriksson b 1795) also had emigrated to Minnesota in 1865. Stina Mattsdotter (b 1826) was married to Erik Paulson (b 1819) and their family moved to Cokato. Marit Mattsdotter (b 1831) was married to Per Paulson (b 1824) and they also moved to Cokato. Thus Stina and Marit were first cousins to this Per Pålsson/Peter Paulson (1834) and to Henrik Paulson (b 1825).

Peter Paulson had 5 children who used the surnmame, "Peterson" in the US.
