Summary: Mary or Maria Olson was born in 1884 in Wright Co MN. She lived with her parents (Peter Olson and Ingeborg Ericksdotter. Around 1902 she married John Nilsson Backlun (this was John's second marriage). In 1908, John and Mary moved to the Tribune area of Saskatchewan. It is likely they traveled with Mary's parents. John and Mary had one son, Howard who was born about 1904 in MN. Howard died at the age of 12 years in Tribune SK. John had 2 sons from his first marriage and they both lived with John and Mary. Guy was the oldest of John's sons and he also farmed in the Tribune area. John's other son, Willis, died in 1924 in the Tribune area (Lake Alma).

John Backlun died on 9 Aug 1933 and is buried at the old Slager Cemetery, just south wast of Tribune. Mary died in 1963, likely at Tribune. I have not found a burial record.
