NOTE: on my database, look for Maria (below) and then go back a couple of generations to get to Samuel Samuelsson (b 1710) and then a daughter Sophia Samuelson (b 1745), married to Häkan Häkansson Öhrman b 1713 [his second marriage]:
Maria Jonsdotter b abt 1779; she had one son born outside of marriage - Karl Johan b 25 Mar 1811, born at Granträsk, Lycksele parish;
she then married Olof Olofsson (see, geni.com FT, https://www.geni.com/people/Jonas-Philipsson/6000000003537514048?through=6000000003417361927; but this tree does not note Karl Johan
- further descendants of Karl Johan lead to John Grahn (Johan Grahn) who had homesteaded in the Hay Lakes area (see Hay Lakes history book, p 890. And from this, a son Hilmer Grahn with descendants to James Grahn married to Barb Grue. Another son of the above Johan Grahn was Thor Grahn and his children - Lloyd Grahn married to Lillian Naslund, and Hazel Grahn married to Harold Naslund -- see some notes under Hazel Grahn's research page notes.
Noted events in his life were:
1. Residence, 1849-1902, 1849-1902, Lycksele, Västerbotten Län, Sweden. While living in Sweden, John Carlsson Grahn lived most of his adult life in Lycksele parish. Of course he was born in Bjuholm parish, and he moved with his parents to Lycksele and after a a year to neighboring Fredrika parish (Långebäcken). Around 1868, he moved Lycksele parish where he was working as a farm hand at Holmträskbrännan and Kroksjö. In 1881 he was married and living at Kroksjö. For a few years they lived at the farm Myträst where the 2 older children were born (John Hilmer and Esther Karolina). Around 1885 or 1886, the family moved back to Kroksjö where the other children were all born.
In Mar 1902, most of the family left for Canada.
2. Emigration, Mar 1902: Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada. The Lycksele parish records record the family leaving Lycksele for Canada on 2 Mar 1902.
The family arrived at Saint John, New Brunswick on 31 Mar 1902. They were on board the ship, "Lake Superior" that sailed from Liverpool, England. The family likely had traveled to Throndheim, Norway and then likely to Liverpool. On the Canadian Passenger lists, it is noted that the family was traveling to Wetaskwin. It lists, John Grahn and his wife, son John age 19, Emma age 18, William age 8 [?], Tor Engelbrekt age 6, Oscar age 4, Bror Otto age 1.
Note: on the Canadain Passenger lists, above the John and Vendla Grahn family, is listed the family of Karl J. A. Karlsson. Karl was a brother to Vendla. They were also known as in the Carl Sikstrom family in Sweden and in Canada.
It is likely the family traveled by a CPR train across Canada arriving Calgary, and from there traveled to the homestead.
John married Vendla Karolina Sikström on 24 Jun 1881 in Bjurholm, Västerbotten län, Sweden.8807 (Vendla Karolina Sikström was born on 1 Oct 1864 in Bjurholm, Västerbotten län, Sweden, died on 17 Jul 1938 in Hay Lakes, Alberta, Canada and was buried in Christian Church Cemetery, Hay Lakes, Alberta, Canada.)
