bullet  Research Notes:

Summary: Henrik Larsson Manninen's birth of 1590 at Djuprämmen in the current parish of Rämmen CAN NOT be proven, since records were not available. Most other FT's record this, but provide no evidence. What can be said is that he likely lived at the farm Djuprämmen and he may very well have been the first settler or one of the first settlers in the area sometime around 1620.

Although many FT researchers record is birth as 1590, the "Forest Finn DNA project" notes that he was born around 1570 in Finland (see point 2 below). Another researcher in an Anbytarforum (Lena Nalmo) in 2011 notes that he likely came from Finland in the 17th century (1600's). And there maybe some evidence that he is recorded as taxed in 1610 (see my article, "Bengt Henriksson, b about 1628 ...", currently in my z-folder, 9 Nov 2019).

Conclusion: Henrik Larsson Manninen was likely born between 1570 and 1590 in Finland

1. Most family researchers record that Henrik Larsson Manninen was born at the farm Djuprämmen around 1590. The current parish for the farm is Rämmen parish, but Rämmen parish was not a separate parish before 1879. Prior to 1879 the area was under Färnebo parish, but it appears there was a chapel at Rämmen as early as 1850. Some of the earliest records at Färnebo are birth records (starting in 1651) and death records (starting 1664), but both of these are a part of Filipstad parish records (on Arkivdigital). This is still before the time of our ancestors.

1. a. Richard Broberg, 1988 (see PDF);
[currently in Gen..Resources - Forest Finns; Svenska landsmål ... ; 12 Nov 2019 ]
- page 80 of pdf (page 78 of his document): before the beginning of the 1600's, "...an early settler, a Hendrich Finn is mentioned, which turns out to be Hendrich Manninen at the Djuprämmen".
- page 118 of pdf: some discussion that around 1620 at Djuprämmen was the Finn Henrik Tomasson Häkkinen ["... it is uncertain when he came to Rämmen parish area, but likely he was amongst the torps (cottages with small farms) in the late 1620's and into the next decade"]... he first is mentioned with other people and owners of cattle in Värmland's mountain range, in the 1640's as Hinrich Hecken as well as the son Påffvel Hecken, both as single persons.

But further research finds that "this one is undoubtedly likely the farely wealthy Finn Henrik Manninen in the 1620s, who has taken up and built the farm Djuprämmen".

In the same "mantal" [that is the 1640 taxation record], Henrik Manninen's wife Kerstin Bengtsdotter is noted as a widow, and at the same time Häkkinen marries with her.

page 93 of PDF. The other Finn under the Phinnetorpen was called Hindrik Andersson Maninen. Around 1620, this homestead in the Tobyn forest land along the border with the Ffyksdalen, an area that was taxed as 1/8 home-based Humsjön.
- Phinnetorpen is/was within Humsjön (at one time under or called Mangskog) parish); Mangskog parish in Värmland is about 75 kms to the south of about 25 kms west of Sunne; Brunskog is about 25 km south of Manskog; note Djuprämmen in Rämmen parish is about 120 kms east of Östmark]
** on a recent search on Google Maps, about 2 kms east of Rämmen church is "Djuprämen" close to the south end to a large lake. But on the north end of this lake is Djuprämmen and currently has a number of photos and includes scenes of a campsite -- this area is about 4-5 kms north and a little east of the Rämmen church. Mapquest.com names the lake as "Djuprämmen". Where the farm was located, I'm not sure [29 Mar 2023]

[I can't find Phinnetorpen on a map]

- also: I do not know who this Hindrik was - was he a brother/uncle of 'our' Henrik Larsson Manninen ????
Although I have found some other information on the son, Henrik Henriksson Manninen b about 1620 and desendants living at Humsjön in Mangskog, I CANNOT determine a family relationship [12 Nov 2019]

2. Most family researchers note the approximate birth year of Henrik Larsson Manninen's children as indicated in my Legacy database. However, there is no source information and so the birth year cannot be verified (or for that matter, the year of death).

Henrik Manninen is noted in "1600-t" [1600's] at Djuprämmen in Rämmen parish. Also, his son Bengt Henriksson Manninen is noted at Rattsjöberg (Vitsand) in 1600/1700's.

3. There is one court record for his wife (Kerstin Bengtsdotter born about 1600 and died abt 1669) that name her children with Henrik Larsson Manninen and the 2 children from Kerstin's second marriage with Henrik Tomasson Häkkinen (as indicated in the Legacy database).

- see my document, "Kenneth Bergman court records posts", Part F; Fall 1669 vt 3; AND my document, "Bengt Henriksson, born about 1628 and his ancestors"
- the above court record (Fall 1669 vt 3) note that sons, Jöns and Henrik Henriksson Manninen, shortly after the court hearing, left for Guinea, in the West Indies (Guyanna, later Suriname)

4. Most family researchers record that Henrik Larsson Manninen died around 1638 (not verified). But there is disagreement whether he died at Rattsjöberg in Fryksäade parish or at Djuprämmen in Rämmen parish (Färnebo)

Conclusion:

Although there is no clear evidence, it is likely that Henrik Larsson died at Djuprämmen. Shortly after his death (about 1638) his widow, Kerstin Bengtsdotter (b abt 1600) was remarried to Henrik Tomasson Häkkinen. We have a court record (1669 vt3) that notes Henrik Tomasson and Kerstin Bengtsdotter had at least two children, Pål and Annika. Kenneth Bergman's data records that Annika Henriksdotter Häkkinen was born about 1641 at Djuprämmen. One geni.com FT (with private user, 25 May 2018) also notes the birth place. This geni.com FT further notes that Henrik Tomasson was recorded in the mantal (taxation) in Rämmen in 1640 (and at Rattsjöberg 1648-1660). It notes that the family moved to Rattsjöberg in 1646 and began cultivation of the site.

Kenneth Bergman notes, " Häkkinen sold Djuprämen and moved, along with wife and children to Fryksände, where he occupied the village of Rattsjöberg in 1645".

The above 2 notes/records would suggest that Henrik Larsson would have died at Djuprämmen. His oldest child, 'our' Bengt Henriksson (b 1628), would have been about 10 years old at the time of the death of his father. Around 1645 that Henrik Tomasson and Kerstin Bengtsdotter sold Djuprämmen and moved to Rattsjöberg. 5755,8448,8449
