He was a farmer's son from Moen Nordre in Tufsingdalen. He was married in 1854 to his wife and lived on Strømsvollen, which was a subdivision of Moen Nordre in Tufsingdalen. In 1858 he moved with his family to Idre socken in Sweden and moved back to Tufsingdalen in 1864. In 1865 he lived at Strømsvollen, in 1875 at Refrommet in Tufsingdalen and in 1878 he set up a house at Hølmoen in Tufsingdalen which was a barn he got of his father/brother who had been a house on the farm there. He imposed a demand on Røro's mining company, which had all the power in Os and nearby areas, to demolish the house on Hølmoen. He lived with his family at Nygård in Narjordet where he was an agricultural worker until 1891 when he and his wife lived with his son-in-law and daughter at Kvilvangen in Tufsingdalen and later at Kåsen Vestre in Holøydalen in Tolga municipality where he died and is buried at Holøidalen auxiliary cemetery .

some time. He was about 66 years of age."
