- worked as a Cook most of his life
- notes he is divorced, but name of wife not known- notes he was creamated, Vancouver Creamatorium, Glenhaven Memorial Chapel (1235 E Hastings; doesn't appear to be at this address; current address is 1835 E Hastings, a block or two east of Commerical)

1. Residence, 1940-1942, 1940-1942, Prince George, British Columbia, Canada. 6574 The BC Cities and Towns directories record Gilbert living in Prince George and his occupation/job as "Miner". Gilbert's father and his brother John are also recorded in Prince George

2. Residence, 1942-1947, 1942-1947, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. 6581 The BC directories records Gilbert living in Vancouver and in 1942 his job is a "dispatcher" with Pacific Coast Cabs (residence as 1116 Nelson) and in 1946-47 he is a "proprietor", Paddy's Lunches at 2222 Granville. It is noted that he isn't listed in 1943-1945 directories (nor is he listed in Prince Georger), but it is likely he was in Vancouver during this time also.
