2. Marriage, 24 Dec 1909 WA Digital

- Pearl Jones; Michael Prestlien as a Witness

+++ after Ole died in May 1914; Pearl Prestlien remarried on 16 Jun 1915 to Frank Ford; her residence is recorded as Lewis Co, as is Frank (she signed as Mrs Pearl Prestlien

== in 1920 US Census - Grays Harbor

- Frank Ford, age 42 born in England <1878> emigrated in 1885, mill worker - marker,
wife Pearl E Jones, age 31 < born in Kansas
- Gladiss, daugther age 15 <1905> born in WA; Lester H, son age 10 <1910> born in WA; father born in England, mother born in 1915 +++ Pearl may have been married before or Frank before and so Gladiss could be his daughter from a first marriage (there is a Frank Ford marriage to Lizzie Waggoner in 1901 in Lewis Co) or Pearl's daughter --- but no marriage for Pearl Jones prior to from 1900-1910 other than to Ole Prestlien

++ note: at least 2 Ancestry.com Public Member Tree has the correct Ole Prestlien (but many still include an Ole Mikkelsen Prestlien born in 1844 in Prestlien, Norway, son of Mikkel N Prestlien and Anna Beate)
Miller Family Tree (Karol Miller) includes the correct Ole Prestlien
Hawkins-Hansen includes the correct Ole Prestlien [ accessed 23 Jul 2014 ] [ https://www.ancestry.com/family-tree/person/tree/3568011/person/1970663180/facts ; my last access, 3 Jun 2023]

/-- search by Ole Prestlien and go to public members and scanned documents - photo of Ole Prestlien, son of Nils M Prestlien and Sara Torgerson; also states "Ole was Clara Prestlien's brother. He served in the U.S. Army during the Spanish American War. He was killed in an auto accident in Everett, Washington, in 1914. Olivia Botten was named after Uncle Ole." Re; Spanish American War was really in 1898, but the US Army Enlistment is for Ole Prestlien born in Otter Tail Co, MN enlisting in 1904, and discharge in 16 Dec 1907, but there is an indication of his death in a car crash and no indication of last date of service (ancestry.com - US Army Enlistment...)

Additionally; Ole N Prestlien, died 27 Mar 1914 (auto accident) - he was the son of Nils M Prestlien and Sarah Torgersen and was born about 1877 in MN

- a number of Ancestry.com Public Member trees (TMA2014 family tree; Sonmor Family Tree; Gilmore Family Tree; Ryan Fournier family tree; Smehaug Family Tree; Hawkins-Hansen)
-BUT +++
many ancestry.com Public Member trees record him as a son of Mikkel and Anna Beate Prestlien named Ole Prestlien, born in 1844 at the Prestlien Farm in Norway and died 8 Oct 1914 at Snohomish, Snohomish Co, WA
BUT Re; Ole Prestlien born in 1844 [ actually b 1877 ] and died Oct 1914
So, somebody made this entry by mistake or had false information and many copied the same information without trying to verify anything; a couple of trees (Kurt Hahn) indicate this "Ole" married to Betsy Unk (or a Betsy L) and then Pearl Unk (Kurt Hahn) and then children, one being born and dying in London (twp), Freeborn Co, MN and who was known as Lewis O Prestlien or Preston (however, no record of an Ole Prestlien or Preston in MN death certificate) ?????

these Public Member Trees are confusing Ole N Prestlien born in 1877 in MN marrying Pearl Jones with another person named Ole Prestlien born in 1844 in Norway - there is NO EVIDENCE of this - I have reviewed the Norway Parish Registers and there is no birth in 1843-1844 for an Ole N somebody (there are a number of births of Ole, but none with a father's name beginning in 'N' or an Ole born on Prestlien

- BUT [ 22 Jul 2014 ]
- no record of an Ole being born to Mikkel and Anna Beate in Norway Parish Records, years 1842-1845
- no record of an Ole dying in Snohomish Co, WA in 1914 or on 8 Oct ;; however, ancestry.com has a record U.S., Civil War Pension Index: General Index to Pension Files, 1861-1934 for Ole Prestlien, filed by his widow Pearl Prestlien with the date of filing as 8 Oct 1914, not date of death; and filed in the state of Washington; US Field Art - no other information
So, it is possible that Ole N Prestlien (born 1877) record for Civil War pension was made by his widow, with his widow thinking Ole was in the Civil War (this record does not indicate the application was accepted) OR this index is more of a 'general index' for pensions prior to WW 1 OR ancestry.com have missed categorized this record/card ( the card itself does not print what record this is, only a name, service, application #.... there is no Ole Prestlien in the Civil War website accessed on 23 Jul 2014 (http://www.nps.gov/civilwar/soldiers-and-sailors-database.htm)

C.

- however, WA Digital has a marriage cert from Centralia, Lewis Co, dated 23 Dec 1909 for Ole Prestlien from Silvana WA and Pearl Jones; witness - Michael Prestlien
- Hawkins-Hansen family tree records Pearl Jones as the wife of Ole N Prestlien, but no birth/death or sources
- TMA20014 family records Pearl, born 1888 in KS as wife BUT also includes Pearl Jones married in 1909 to Ole Prestlien, born in 1844 and Pearl Jones marring Frank Ford in 1915 in Lewis Co, WA

Conclusion: [ 16 Aug 2014 ]

Ole Nilsen Prestlein was the son of Nils M Prestlien and Sara Torgersen (Troen) and was born in 1877 in Otter Tail County, MN. He migrated to Washington State with his parents around 1883. In 1904 at the age of 27 he joined the US Army; he was discharged on 16 Dec 1907 at the Vancouver, WA barracks (Clark Co). While in the army he had gained experience as a motor mechanic. It is very unlikely he served in the Spanish American War since it began and ended in 1898.

In 1909 he married Pearl Jones in Centralia, Lewis Co, WA. She was born in 1889 in Kansas. In 1910 (1 Jun) Ole and Pearl are recorded as living Silvana, Snohomish Co, WA; the records notes his occupation as a house carpenter.

On the 27 May 1914, Ole was killed instantly in automobile accident in Everett. He was a passenger in the car of J M Johnson; Mr Johnson along with 3 other passengers died including Ole Prestlien. One other passenger was seriously injuried, but two other passengers were uninjuried.

Ole and Pearl did not have children. Pearl remarried in 1915 to Frank Ford who had 2 children from a previous marriage. Pearl died in 1959 and her second husband died in 1961 - both are buried at Centralia, Lewis Co, WA (see findagrave).

Ole is buried at the Zion (Peace) Lutheran Church Cemetery, a short distance from the present town of Silvana, WA.
