  Research Notes:

Note: 28 May 2024 ... I have linked Lars E Wold as a son to Even Olsen Heggkåsen, b 1817. With this linking, Lars Wold's ancestors go back to one of the earliest farms in Tolga parish - Søndmør.

Lars E Wold left Tolga parish for North America on 9 Apr 1880. His exact designation is not known. However, we do know that he was a likely a resident of Otter Tail Co, MN in 1883. He was married to Tina Broen on 3 Dec 1883 at Fergus Falls. Lars and Tina had 2 children, and it appears that Tina died shortly after the birth of the youngest child Inger who was born in 1886. I am not sure if Inger also died at or just after birth, but it is likely (I have not found any evidence of Inger's death). Lars and Tina's oldest child was named Andrew at his birth/baptism in 1884, and in the 1885 MN State Census record). However, it is most likely that he adopted the name Einar Lars Wold likely in the late 1880s or early 1890s. It appears that when Lars travelled to Washington State in 1891, Einar stayed in Minnesota. In the 1895 MN State Census he is recorded living with his uncle, Andrew E Wold in Otter Tail Co. [see Einar's page for additional information]

Lars Wold's young brother Julius is recorded leaving Tolga Parish in 1889 and his sisters Oline and Kirsti left Tolga in 1890. Additionally it appears that Lars' brother Arne Wold and Julius likely came to Otter Tail Co, MN in 1889. Arne Wold's wife and daughters and Oline and Kirsti Wold left Tolga in 1890. They most likely first went to Otter Tail Co, MN where Lars, Andrew Wold, Arne and Julius were living.

Although I have not found any direct evidence, I think that Lars, Julius, Oline and Kirsti left Otter Tail Co, MN sometime in 1891 and travelled to Snohomish Co, WA. It is most likely that they travelled first to Iver M Prestlien's home near Silvana, WA [of course, the family of Nils Prestlien also lived near Silvana, as well as the John Engebretsen family and the Langsjoen's].

Lars Wold was married a second time to Sara/Sarah Troen Torgersen on 24 Apr 1892 at Silvana/Stillaguamish, Snohomish Co, WA. Sara was the widow of Nils Prestlien who had died in 1891. At the time of the marriage, Sara's children were 17, 15, and 13 years old.

Note that there are a couple of Ancestry Family Trees [FTs] that record Sara's 2nd marriage to Lars E Wold, but none record any other information on Lars.

Lars died in 1895 or possibly 1896. However, I have not found any direct evidence of his death. None of the FTs record his death nor is his death recorded on WA State Digital Archives. I have also have not found his place of burial. The only reference for his death is recorded in an obituary for Sara [Mrs. Wold, from The Everett Daily Herald, issue 27 Nov 1930] that reports that he died in 1895.

2. Salem Lutheran Church, Silvana, WA [text document .. Grue FT .. Prestliens;; as of 2 Jun 2024]

In early Jul 2023 I had viewed a video that was posted by Peace Lutheran Church [https://plsilvana.org/our-history/]. Initial Norwegian Lutheran congregation of Zion Lutheran Church [also known as, Little White Church on the HIll] was formed in 1884. At the beginning the congregation was not affilitated with a Luthern synod. However, in 1894 there was a split in the congregation - the majority members were joining The Norwegian Evangelical Lutheran Synod. But 13 families split Zion and formed Salem Lutheran Church with a church built in Silvana in 1898. A number of 'our' relatives were apart of the 13 families, including Iver M Prestlien, and Lars E Wold. Initially the Salem congregation met in a storehouse along the river and by 1897 the congregation joined the Lutheran Free Church of America.

- has a photo of Lars Wold and some siblings - father Even Olsen Hegkassen (photo and some of his family, including Lars) and Even's father as Ole Evensen Sondmor ;;; thus this would be a relationship
..... see my photo document "Even Olsen Hægkaasen" [as of 2 Jun 2024, Grue FT..Prestliens..Mikkel N Prestlien..Hegkaasen-Wold

- HOWEVER, this FT tree has information that is incorrect ... records he was married to "Kaben" and references a 1900 US Census for Minneapolis [ward 7, ED 0080, sheet 3A] for a person recorded with surname and then initials only, "Wold, Q E" [indexed on Ancestry as Q. E. but the viewing the record, the first initial is hard to make, but looks somewhat like "L"]. This person's birth is recorded as Dec 1855 in Norway and emigrated in 1881; he is recorded as a police man

--- re: surname of Wold
- the above Public Member Tree has an article (unsourced) about the orgin of the surname Wold: "The Norwegian surname Wolden is of local origin belonging to the category of surnames derived from the place where the original bearer of this surname once lived or held land. The name is derived from the Germanic word "wold", in Old Norse "wald" meaning "forest or woodland". Thus the bearers of this name came from or have ancestors that came from a farm situated in or close to such a place. The "-en" suffix of the name is the Norwegian definite article "The". Since there are many places by the name of Wolden or Volden it was not uncommon to add a prefix to the name for clarity: Fevolden or Listadvolden ar just two examples."

- from Wald or Volden, but Volden was also known as Nóren or Nøren; however 'the suffex' "... vold" is fairly common in farm or location names - Narbuvold and other variations of farm names in the Tufsingdalen area
