- married 21 Dec 1911 to Bertha Broen b 5 May 1886 in Owego, ND to Christian O Broen and Gina Lomnes - see Bertha's notes. She came in 1909; marriage at the home of her parents in Armena

then: on page 755 under Thore and Berit Grue
- 1919 their home farm was sold or taken over by son Nels
- and, Thore and Berit move to a vacant house on Simon's place and lived their until to when Whitecourt [1923 ??]

4. Camrose Canadian, 15 Mar 1933, page 6, col 8; "Armena"; "Vernon Lindgren and Simon Grue returned from a business trip to Whitecourt." [ possibly something to do with Thore S Grue, his father's estate?? ]

Camrose Canadian, 15 Apr 1915, page 2, col 4, "Dinant"; ....the later [Theo. Throndson bought a 160 acre tract of improved land from S. Grue ...." [ where was the 160 acres - his homestead land or another parcel

... my dad [Oliver] had helped/worked at Uncle Simon's treshing around 1933-1935 [age 18, 19] ... ran the tractor and Simon the separator... the next year ... ran the tractor and separator... Simon had a bunk house for the men to sleep - it was on wheels, so it could be moved to other farms ...
... "will never forget Bessy's breakfast. We would have sour cream and bread with chokcherry syrup and fried potatoes. Hm! Hm!'

- survived by husband Simon, daughter Berta (Mrs Raymond Stavne) of Hay Lakes and Irene .... 4 sisters, a brother Tony Broen of Armena
