indicates that he was a teacher, church leader, singer, and sexton; also indicates that he did not have any children

Translation (Eliv Grue, summer 1982): When John Simensen Grue (born 1804) became of legal age, he took the legal rights to the farm. In 1831 he gave one-half of the estate/farm to Per Jonsen Moseng and Eli Estensdtr Trøen Breen. In 1840 Jon Simensen Grue (born 1804) went to Tolga. He traded his farm called Nedre Grue (lower Grue) to Jon Olsen Jamt for Jamtgården in Tolga. At this time he also took back what he owned at Langen - haying meadows (slått) and forest (skog).

Langen bnr.2; (Dativ: Langa); page 54 also has a photo of Jon S Grue

Jon Simenssen Grue (born 1804) was a teacher and churchsinger in Togla where he owned Jamtgarden. After selling Jamt Garden in 1876, Jon and his wife Sigrid moved to Langen and became permanent residents there. Earlier they had used Langen as pasture. ]

- also on page 54 there is another photo on the bottom of the page. The caption reads:

From the courtyard of Langen. One time they took tourists on Langen, both summer and winter. Here it is decorated for a party, with leaves around both front doors. The photograph is probably from 1953, when there were two anniversaries on the farm. During the summer months Marit Østergaardstrøen was a maid in Langen, age 60 on June 21 [1953 ] and Jon O. Grue age 50 July 16 [1953 - thus his birth was in 1903 ]

page 67 (side 73) - Jamtgaarden [Jamtgården]

[The} Jamt name derives from tenants from Jæmteland in Sweden and is very common in Norway, especially in the northern parts. In 1604 was a Jon Jamtlændig who was convicted on Søndmør because of a firearm exchange with the bailiff in 1599 [??]. In 1654, a Jon Jamt from Jemetland parish in Støren [farmed] and then in 1772 Knud Jorgensen Jamt lived on the farm/cabin at Tolgen. In 1854 Kotmoen and Jamthagen became apart of Jamtgaarden due to a land swap or exchange completed by churchsinger John S Grue. It is at the north end of Hagen, and the person who now owns has his farmland, after the houses were demolished.
