- born in Poulsbo; when he was 2 years old <1918>, moved to Bellingham - graduated from Whatcom High School; graduated from Pacific Lutheran College in 1940; after WW II he completed a Masters' in Education at PLU - joined the Marine Corps; served in 21 engagements in WW II with the USS Enterprise in the South Pacific - taught school at Fife Grade school and later was Principal - retired in 1976
- survived by his wife Norma of 49 years; daughter Catherine Silva, Vachon Island (north of Tacoma by ferry); sons Spencer (Kathy) of Tacoma and Paul (Tammy) of Fife, WA (15-20 kms west of Tacoma); grandchildren; survived by sisters, Pernille Rollinger, Marie Looysen, Josephine Fiorito, and brother, Joseph, all of Seattle, and sister, Volly Grande of Tacoma - predeceased by his parents, brother Theo, and sisters Ester Meyer and Edna Haavik
- active with Hope Lutheran Church, Fife Lions Club; enjoyed archery, horseshoes, outdoors fishing and camping inthe Olympics and in the Hoodsport area - where his paternal grandparents had homesteaded in 1898 [ 22 Dec 2010 - however, Halvor Paulson Norby and Pernille Skaret and some children are recorded in the 1892 WA State Census for Hoodsport ]
