Tonetta Odden

Nels I Prestlien and Tonetta, nee Odden

Tonetta's mother was Olea Hanson. She was born on 14 Feb 1856 in Norway. I have not researched her parents or siblings in any detail.

Olea was married twice. Her first marriage was to Ole A Odden sometime in the late 1870s. Olea and Ole had at least 8 children. Ole Odden died 1894 in Steele Co, ND. Olea and the children moved to Roseau Co, MN, likely shortly after his death.

Around 1901, Olea married for a second time to Bernt Staboe. Olea and Bernt along with a number of her younger children emigrated to Canada. They homesteaded in the Armena, Alberta district.

Tonetta married Nels Prestlien in 1917 in the Armena. Nels Prestlien was born 1892 in Snohomoish Co, WA. When Nels' mother died in 1899, he moved to live with his uncle, Cornelius Grue in the Armena District - the 1931 Canada Census records that Nels came to Canada in 1904.

A number of Tonetta's siblings had moved to the Hughenden area and farmed near Nels Prestlien - Tonetta's brothers Ole, Hans and Albert. It appears that Albert was the only one that had married and had children [see below]. A sister, Marie/Karen also came to the Hughenden area
