- posted photo of Peter T Grue and wife; Marvin and Pearl about 1915
- photo of Marvin, high school graduation,

- I had exchanged some messages with her through "ancestry messages" in Apr 2017

Peter Grue dispersed his kids when his wife died at age 36 - Mabel Hetland Grue. Peter also died young due to alcoholism and heart attack. My dad [Marvin] was "adopted" by Fred and Olive Gast of Fergus. They had no children and olive was a Thoresen and said my dad was a cousin. Fred was the game warden so my dad had a wonderful life with them - he was 15. Though the kids got separated, they remained a family and connected.

My dad [Marvin Grue, 1911-1976] was only unofficially adopted by the Gasts in Fergus. But, we called Olive grandma and my dad was happy for her to have "grandchildren ". She was born in Norway and was Olive Thoreson Haugen. You can see my mini tree attached. I have her old Minnesota schoolbooks which has simply Olive Thoreson written them. Maybe Haugen is a farm name from Norway??? I don't know.
My dad Marvin lived with them from about 1926- 1946 when he married my mom who was also Nancy and 8 yrs younger. He had a short time serving as an inactive serviceman working on airplanes in Alaska during part of ww11 [WW 2].
My mom and dad met in Edmonton while he was on leave. He was listed inactive because of a heart issue - something in the male Grue line, it seems.
Can't find where she is a cousin, but it is listed that way in Fergus probate for Olive because she left her house in Fergus to my dad. I know this is too much info but Olive was SO Norwegian with the proper bun and all. As a young girl when she was getting in her night dress she would let me watch her take the hundred pins in her bun out -- her hair would fall down to her butt and I'd watch her brush it! Haven't seen anything like it since!!! I have heard that the hair down and not in a bun was only for their husbands to admire! She looked beautiful. She was the sweetest thing to boot. Tender.
