- doesn't record the name of Ester's parents
- records 6 children; and the following comment:

Note: Ester was born in Hughenden in 1918 where her dad was part owner of a garage. In 1920 she moved with her family back to the Prestlien homestead in the Sugar Bowl District. In 1924 she moved with her family to the Gedstead homestead in the Siver Heights District.
While living here Ester started School at the Silver Heights School which was about 3 miles south of their home. She remained on the Gedstead place for 10 or 11 years before moving 1 1/2 miles East to her mothers mother's place. During Ester's time of going to school, her mode of transportation was horse and buggy (sleigh during the winter) along with their neighbors the Schaffer family. During the fall of her latter teenage years Ester used to cook on the threshing crews with her sister Amelia.

note: there are a lot of Prestlien's recorded on wc.rootsweb.com : BUT, much is posted by Kurt Hahn
- a bit of a rabbit hole - on a general search, the names are noted, but many have no information on the individual page
- probably easier to us ancestry.com

HOMAN-PRESTLIEN
On Friday, July 25 at 3 p.m. Miss Esther Lillean, fourth daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. Prestlien of the Kessler district and Mr. Alfred (Bud) Homan son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Fred Homan of Talbot were united in marriage at the manse in Coronation. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Miler of Coronation attended the wedding. The bride looked charming in a lovely blue gown trimmed in gold. The wedding breakfast was served at the home of the bride's parents, where the house was prettily decorated with white streamers and 26 guests were present. At about 10 p.m. some 60 persons arrived to charivari the newly-weds. Incidently it was the groom's birthday also. The evening was spent in singing songs, followed by lunch. Here's wishing them luck and prosperity. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Miller of Coronation gave a dinner in honor of the newly-weds on Sunday, with many relatives attending.

- the following is under "Bud" Holman

Bud was born in Balston, Oregon, U.S.A. on July 25th, 1911 to Fred and Mattie Homan. Bud moved with his parents to Canada in 1912 and homesteaded in the Nose Hills near Talbot, Alberta. Bud attended school at the Ribstone School a couple of miles east of the Talbot store.

Bud met Ester Prestlien and married her on July 25, 1941, and settled down on the Gedstad Homestead east of Silver Heights, where their first son Dwight was born. Bud drove truck for Ernest Peddicord during this time. He made quite a few trips to Calgary with the 3 ton Diamond T loaded with cattle. He attested to the fact that it was easier to shift the truck using the motor than to try to shift with the clutch.

Around 1943 Bud, Ester and Dwight moved to the Stoltz place where Bud worked for Charlie Stoltz. Ralph and Stan were both born here. Around the latter part of 1946 or early 1947, the family moved to the Sugar Bowl Hill area to the Frank Mossman farm where Bud worked for Frank. George was born in Coronation on August 1, 1947.

About 1949 the family moved to the Douglas McMullen farm where Bud rented the farm. Dwight started school at Landscape school which was a one room school. When the family moved to the McMullen place Dwight transferred to Lakesend School, which was also a one room School. Ralph also started school at Lakesend School. The teacher at this school was Mr. Harvey White.

In the fall of 1951 the family moved to the Harvey Wight farm where Bud rented the farm when the Wight family moved back to Ontario. In the spring of 1952 Bud held a Threshing Bee to thresh some of the grain that had not been threshed before the snow came in 1951. It was the last time threshing was done on this farm as the Wight family purchased a combine in the fall of 1951 which Bud used from then on.

In 1950 Bud bought a half section of land from the Wright family 1 mile south and 2 miles west of the Wight farm, moving to there new farm in 1954, where he remained until his death in 1966. The house the family moved into was a 4 room building that had originally been 2 homestead houses put under one roof. There was a small cellar under the kitchen. Over the next few years Bud bought 2 more quarters of land and also rented 2 quarters from the CPR.

The farm originally had no electricity, so for a little while coal oil lanterns were used for light at night. Shortly after they moved in a relative (Elmer Jacobs) had a 32 volt generator for sale so Bud bought that to provide some electricity for the house. The generator came complete with a string of batteries that would be charged up and would run the lights for 2 or 3 days before the generator would have to be run again.

Around 1957 commercial electricity was put into the farm and we had electricity in the barn, the garage, and the house. Following this Bud sold the 32 volt generator to Glen Campbell who was a family friend.

In 1966 after the loan for purchasing the property was payed off, Bud took out a loan to build a new house. He had the structure built and was putting on the roof when he noticed very severe pain. He was taken to Hardisty to the hospital and then transferred to Camrose Hospital where they found out he had cancer. After going to Edmonton for some radiation treatments Bud returned home to wait out his remaining days. They moved into their new house in November where Bud stayed for a couple of weeks before being taken to the Hardisty Hospital, where he remained until he died December 20, 1966.

********** this source also gives the burial location (however, there is not a place name of Fairfield, AB, so this likely refers to the name of the cemetery - Fairfield Cemetery, Brownfield, AB; and lists 6 children, 4 living; baby boy, born and died 26 April 1943 in Coronation, AB; Marlene Gail Homan, born on 11 April 1952 and died 12 April in Hardisty, AB and buried in Coronation; sources also gives some descendant information 2246,2248
